Alabama is 2015 OSU without the Natty or level of talent (by OSU or Bama standards). OSU 2015 should have been the best team but didn't want it. Alabama 2017 isn't close to their usual standard.

But i think Committee is setting up Bama. Miss St has no business in top25, LSU in top 20. There's 4 Unranked MidMajors with better records than 3-loss FresnoSt - incluing 9-2 Troy who beat LSU. How the fuck is a 3-loss MidMajor thats beat Nobody ranked but a 2-loss who beat alleged 17 cant get in?
More amusing... the win that propelled FresnoSt into Top25? Scraping by 3-loss BoiseSt.
I'm sure their sudden ranking has nothing to do with being Bama's only OOC opponent?
Committee is claiming Bama has 3 quality wins over MissSt, LSU, Fresno St.
Theyre all in on Bama.

USC has pretty much no shot. They'd need to beat Stanford by 50+ points and have other chips fall their way. If the Committee was looking to give them a shake they would have put them above Penn State right behind Ohio State this week, they didnt.

Them sneaking Fresno State into the top 25 still cracks me up.
They are about as meh of a 9 win team as you can get.......they lost to UNLV for god sakes.
Best win was against Boise State and then a bunch of not good MWC teams and a 7 point 4th quarter escape against a pretty bad BYU team.

I agree on their realistic position... but afaic they should go over Bama.
They lost a close game to Leach and got stomped by ND. They also scheduled Texas... who is shit but OOC of ND and Texas ... props to their AD.
Meanwhile Bama played D1AA, CSU, FresnoSt, and a bad FSU ... in a division that's having a down year... and got blown out of going to their Conference Championship.

I have misplaced my pants.
I find it a little funny, and a little annoying, when people use previous years to compare 2017 Ohio State to. Or 2017 Alabama or anyone in 2017. Sure the circumstances in 2017 are somewhat similar to other years. Maybe Alabama seems pretty close to 2015 Ohio State. And 2017 Ohio State is similar to 2016 Penn State. But there are other differences. There isn't a set of criteria that need to be met and then you're in the playoffs. It's simply "the four best teams" (or maybe "the four most deserving teams", but that's another argument). If a team that lost by 31 points makes it into the playoffs in 2017, that isn't saying that another team that lost by 31 should have been in the playoffs in a different year.
Four teams will be picked in 2017, and while I find it hard to believe that Ohio State will be one of them, I hope they are. But we can't say that Team X is in the same situation as Team Y in a different year, so they should be in.

MSU and LSU being ranked has some plausibility but the Fresno ranking is the type of stuff that fuels conspiracy theories.
That said I do think the comment the committee made about teams 5-8 being similar is pretty damning for Bama imo. If they still had a game left to play they would be good.

In reality no other games matter..we have screwed up on quizzes and assignments squeaked by on the mid term. We have to ace the final. When the committee comes together they have to be all talking about tOSU. Bosa Barrett Dobbins Baker have to put on tape their best resume. If we are the talk of the weekend we’re in.

Not to mention, our QB got injured in a very important game in an incredibly hostile environment to a WAY better team. Back-up was ready, came in and won the game WITH THE REST OF OUR TEAM.
If Clemson doesn't have a gameplan if, God forbid, their QB gets hurt against a crap-ass team like Syracuse I have no idea how they'd handle that against Miami, Auburn, etc. We've seen this happen MULTIPLE times throughout the season and it shows they lean too much on their QB. If the rest of their team isn't talented enough to play a bigger part there's no excuse.
The fact we were prepared and succeeded when this happened to us should be a factor. If they want to give them a pass for that loss, we need to get MUCH more credit for the scUM win.

Exactly. I've been going back and forth on this a lot (hence, so many flip flopping posts), but I've decided not to be "scared" of going to the playoffs. I mean, I'd rather go to the big game and lose to Clemson again than get into a consolation bowl.
I was listening to Buckeye Talk yesterday and this was the consensus that swayed me. Whether you respect those guys or not, they have a good point.
The end game in CFB (and all sports) is to ultimately play in the Championship, not go to a vacation bowl. Sure, it may be entertaining, but not as fun or meaningful as the chance at a National Championship.
So fuck it, win or lose put us in. A chance is still a chance.
