2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

I also read a comment on a complete bullshit Bama propaganda CBS Sports article literally going through every team (in alphabetical order-- eye roll) that should have a shot at the Natty instead of tOSU.

Someone mentioned there'd be no northern representation therefore guaranteeing lower ratings.

He/She said something like-- At that point tOSU, Notre Dame, USC and Wisconsin may as well play in their own Championship. See which one gets better ratings.

Can't win it if you aren't in it... So I'll always want a shot but that said I don't think it'd end well against Clemson if we had them game 1.

True, but we're better this year so I think we have a chance to score SOME points. LOL. If things go awry, I almost think they'd set it up so this wouldn't happen.

One thing we have going our way is if it comes down to us or Bama, they'd both be rematches from last year in the Playoffs.

Sorry, but I'll be skipping that game. Two times was enough for me. Not going to watch that garbage for a 3rd year in a row.

Yeah I've thought of that too... Kind of like the Cavs vs Warriors.

Who wants to see that for a third year in a row? I know I don't and I think many others would feel that way too.

Not to mention, I could name about 10 more teams that deserve that #25 spot.

They really should just go to like a top 15....maybe top 20

Look at the teams at the bottom of the top 25

Northwestern
NC State
Mississippi State
Fresno State

are any of these teams really brag worthy? It's just window dressing to complete that magic 25 number. And then of course teams like Bama can brag "WE BEAT X NUMBER OF TOP 25 TEAMS"......when 2 of them are basically teams that just get thrown in to complete the 25 number.

Why stop at 25? Why isn't it an even number? Lets just move to top 50!

Exactly. I've been going back and forth on this a lot (hence, so many flip flopping posts), but I've decided not to be "scared" of going to the playoffs. I mean, I'd rather go to the big game and lose to Clemson again than get into a consolation bowl.

I was listening to Buckeye Talk yesterday and this was the consensus that swayed me. Whether you respect those guys or not, they have a good point.

The end game in CFB (and all sports) is to ultimately play in the Championship, not go to a vacation bowl. Sure, it may be entertaining, but not as fun or meaningful as the chance at a National Championship.

So fuck it, win or lose put us in. A chance is still a chance.
If we get in I pray it’ll be against both Clemson and OU. Urban can generally get a team frothing at the mouth for revenge games. Plus we’d be hearing for months how OSU doesn’t deserve to get in.

Exactly and that doesn't leave me feeling too good about the playoffs either way.

Clemson isn't as good as they were last year, especially on offense. Think we would match up pretty decently with them this time around. As long as the offense doesn't go into the avoid handing the the RBs at all costs shell.

Well and I'm not confident in us running the backs... Particularly since JT will presumable be back and healthy.

What's maddening is that none of this criticism about JT is his fault. JT could execute a game plan that didn't run him 15 times a game and do so very well.

JT isn't the best pure passer, I think we all know that, he puts up big numbers but decision making and overall skill wise he's not the greatest, not the worst but definitely not on an elite level. He can be the guy who puts up big numbers and succeeds when he's put in a position to do so though. Abandoning the RBs, making him throw a bunch and handle the running load is not that path to success however.

Nobody's going to vote for a two loss team - who the hell ever heard of such a thing?

Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama
Imagine the TV Ratings if that's the final four.the west coast is already slammed without a pac 12 team, but if you exclude the B1G you get slammed in the Midwest and northern east coast. The committee has to be rooting for Wisconsin, or for OSU to roll Wisconsin to easily pick them over Bama.
