2017 CFB Bowl Games Open Thread

Thank fucking god Bama got the last spot with zero resume. Dodged a bullet there. Because as most would agree, this Clemson team and OSU team are the exact same teams as last year, so 31-0 was inevitable. Well outside their all-world qb, first round wr, and elite college RB. But otherwise they would have ass-rammed us.

You watched our bowl game, right? We scored exactly 3 pts that didn’t come off a turnover. And we weren’t up against world beaters - the USC defense was thoroughly mediocre in every category over the season.

Regardless, no need to stress over what-ifs. We’ll be right in the thick of things next season.

2017 Ohio State had 215 total yards against Clemson. Currently Clemson has 119 total yards against 'bama signifying nothing except the Buckeyes missed two field goals.

Kinda discouraging the Tide can coast through a season and still have a chance to win a NC. This occurs when their are no dominate teams.

btw, final conference bowl game results as the SEC will win and lose next week:

B1G = 7-1
ACC = 4-6
SEC = 5-6
Big12 = 5-3
PAC12 = 1-7

ESPN's worst nightmare ~ 'dogs/'bama ~ that's the ticket!

Yea that's actually not true. 247 sports literally does exactly what you're talking about. See attached photo.

Last year, I think, one of the moderators made a player by player graph comparing OSU and Michigan by player recruiting rankings. I was curious so I did the same for OSU vs Alabama. Let’s just say the results were eye opening.

Not sure how the 247 criteria work but there was a significant difference when I did mine

The what if game is pointless.....however the way Bryant has played in this game I think the score would be similar right now if it were Ohio State in there instead of Bama.

Maybe, maybe not. To be honest, I don’t think so given how the Oklahoma game went.

Regardless, given the fact that Bama will likely win this game and go on to win the NC, it seems like sour grapes to complain about the committees choice now.

I did. Up by 17 the entire 2nd half and a coaching staff that saw that their DL was dominating the game made the decision to tresselball the entire second half unless USC showed life offensively. Sorry if you didn't identify that's what was going on. Take a look at the play-by-play and boxscore. OSU passed the ball 17 times and ran it 38 times. I'd be interested to see what that split was in the 2nd half only.

Ive been saying all year that Clemson isnt nearly what they were last year. Its just been a really down year overall for college football. Neither of these 4 teams stack up to the past 3 CFP champions. This version of Ohio State doesn't either to be fair, though I do believe at this point they are better than Clemson.

Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold for all their faults are 1000x the QB's Kelky Bryant is. Kelly Bryant at least this year isn't in their stratusphere nor is he even close to Watson despite the pundits trying to tell us otherwise.
