Game Thread 2017 B1G Championship Game: OSU vs. Wisconsin - 12/2/17 @ 8:00 ET (FOX)

Won The Game

Won the B1G CG

They get into the playoffs then great, they don't then so be it.

Season is a total success.

(what a fucking game)

Total success in terms of checking primary goals off the list, I agree.

The one failure I see in the season was not improving in a big way over last year (which was pretty bad) performance wise. Our offense is still not even a shell of the 14' offense. Our defense has been pretty solid but at times has been a little sketchy defending a solid passing game. Our ST still seems to be more of a liability than ST should.

Yes, im elated by the success of the season but i so have some disappointment that we didn't solve the offense problem. Perhaps nect year with Haskins under center we will be back to form.

Let me spell this out for you, really really clear:

1) Be Ohio State
2) Be extremely inconsistent but still end up winning the Big Ten
3) Get in the playoffs and get blown out for a second consecutive year, making 3 consecutive years for Big Ten teams to be embarrassed nationally
4) Be future Ohio State. Be a great team but drop 1 you shouldn't have (i.e. 2014). Due to prior experience, the committee elects to leave us out.

It has nothing to do with embarrassment and everything to do perception and how this affects the committee.

I would rather not go this year, a year in which we will almost certainly get embarassed, and instead go a year where we have a good team that is deserving.

Tl;dr If we get blown out yet again, there is a possibility we get left out in a year in which we were deserving.

What this year’s team does or doesn’t do in the playoffs has no bearing on the 2018 team’s perception to the committee. That perception is entirely on what the 2018 team does or doesn’t do. This whole idea of “the committee won’t like us anymore” is ridiculous.

As for recruits, there will continuously be recruits chomping at the bit to suit up for Ohio State. What a team does prior to them stepping on campus shouldn’t, and won’t, be a deterrent when playing for a coach like Urban Meyer. Their focus should be on how they can improve an already impressive team, and not so much what they lack.

Great Win!

Still very frustrating. Love JT. Looking forward to the post-JT era. Let's get a good bowl win and move on.

Not a fan of seeing Bosa on his phone with headphones on. That [Mark May] should be in your locker. Shouldn't you be celebrating with your teammates? And while you're at it get the fuck off my lawn.
I must of missed this . He was listening to music while the celebration was going on? Odd .

I don't think OSU-Clemson would just be a repeat embarrassment this time. It seems to me our WR's and RB's are much more dangerous this year and the defense is better. Buckeyes' secondary played great tonight and the d-line was a juggernaut. JT hit that deep pass in the first half, and made other good throws after not practicing all week. I'd rather see Haskins start, but I'm not writing us off against Clem. Even folks here who are in favor of a playoff berth seem not too confident.

Bucks' are vastly improved since the Okla game on both sides of the ball, whereas the Sooners regressed most of the season, Cryami was overrated and Clemson won a week conference. JT was likely in pain the 2nd half... Let's see how they do after he has a month to practice and heal. Tonight's first half Bucks, minus the pick-6 and fumble, can play with anybody.

I think the defense is worse this year. Last year we had better linebackers, absolute studs in the secondary, but a slightly weaker D Line. Our defense was probably on the field 75% of the time against Clemson and kept them in check for quite a while.
