Not necessarily saying replace him... but you have to bring him help.. TE or RB... because he's going to see a constant diet of the DE going wide on him from here on out
else you need to use an occasional screen pass to his side

we did that last year with Faris did we not? Problem with the TEs is Vannett >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Baugh when it comes to blocking (wtf Warriner get with it)

Bingo. It's funny how going into this season fans were understanding of how young the team is in both youth and experience. They completely expected a 2-3 loss season at best. Now after 1 loss people are calling for O-Line substitutions from first year players. Yes, I agree that there are legit concerns with play calling as well as 2nd/3rd year players (looking at you Marcus Baugh), but the line is doing quite well for where they started.

baugh was a member of the walking wounded last night. the guy was hobbling from just after halftime on.

i was in the same boat with you on the play calling until this game oddly enough. but at the end of the day, you call plays that allow your guys to win. when you are loosing the line of scrimmage battle and the wr's are not making the plays you need to take pressure off the rest of the o. im not sure what else they can do beyond the calls they went with.

but for the youth and the rest, i completely agree with you. this is such an absurdly young team. insanely talented and imo still the most talented in the country, but just absurdly young. our only chance at a nc was that no one would have the ability to exploit enough of our youth in the same game before that youth had the time to mature out of it. i absolutely hate that it was pedo state. but i tip my hat to them in taking advantage of enough of our weaknesses to get the win.

He had a tough game but there's something else to consider.

Did anyone notice that we stopped doing the clapping for the snap? The crowd got too loud to hear it so Elflein was looking through his legs at JT then picking his head back up to snap it. The Center is the signal caller for the Oline. If your head is down looking at your QB, there's a chance you are going to miss some calls.

Because the snap was then going off the center, the tackles on the Oline are reacting to movement more than going on the count, which gives the defense a head start. Tough tough thing to do if the guy has his ears pinned back and you are on an island by yourself. For the most part Prince did what he was supposed to do and ride the DE out further allowing JT to step up in the pocket. There were plenty of pockets in this game as evidenced on the last drive when JT stepped up and rifled one down the middle for a big gain to Samuel. It's when JT took off that we were limited.

One thing I notice our guys NOT doing is recognizing the HOT routes. IF your guy goes on a blitz or crosses you blitzing, you cut your route off to a hot and call for the ball. Guys running down the damn field into coverage leaving the QB to scramble is awful. Could be youth. Could be scheme. Could be coaching. Whatever it is, it's wrong. You got to give your QB something to throw to and he has to read it in time to get it done.

Our Oline would be much better if their head coach weren't in the booth needing to babysit and the adjustments could be made on the fly. That is a much bigger kettle of worms and it also points to lack of QB development so I wont talk about it in this thread.

Bottom line is we're still alive and hopefully these guys are pissed off now.

There's a video of an analyst that points out the move from clap to tap ground (because of crowd noise)... then the exact time lapse till snap...
that PSU picked up on that and timed their blitzes... and that we never changed the whole game.. so they just pinned their ears back and came charging

then i guess that makes at least two consecutive games where the opposing teams perfectly timed blitzes because we were tipping them off. how do other staffs and players recognize this but not ours? otherwise, the only explanation is that studrawa is not preparing the players adequately.

I see a lot of Prince talk but Jordan is just as culpable as well as the whole line, I can reference a missed assignment by almost everyone on the starting line. I teetered on wanting to see changes but its not needed as much as going back to the basics technique and scheme wise.

As far as Prince, he is as athletic a Tackle we've seen around here in a long time, plus he is a first time starter, lets all hope this is the punch to the gut he and all the line needs to get this train back on track.

To be honest, I do not think many of us BP rs were expecting a lot, knowing that we had many players to replace in 2016. I was one of them and I was very surprised when we came away the wins at Oklahoma and Wisconsin. And playing 3 night games at 8 pm would be a lot of pressure for the coaching staff and the rest of the team. We came very close to beating Penn State but one mistake and it cost us the ball game. Now it's back to the task at hand and starting a new. this team has a lot of things to learn yet. And the remaining schedule is not getting any easier.

Prince was a 2015 recruit. Though he did come in with high expectations and was the first (if I remember right) or at least one of the first to lose his stripe, I don't think expectations were that high that people expected him to play as a true frosh until he lost his stripe. I anticipate Myers to actually start sometime during the 2017 season, as long as he is healthy. IMO that is higher expectations.

Its a fun thing every year to think kids still in HS will set the CFB world on fire as true frosh(or ever), but the fact is it rarely ever happens. Especially on the line. Prince is playing at a high level and had a bad game as a first year starter, it happens! The curse of recruiting is that fans tend to think that the next kid erases the hard work that was put in by the current kids on the roster. Myers is very talented HS lineman, who plays in a scheme that is nothing like what OSU runs, and theres nothing wrong if takes a year to learn the system as he won't be able to overpower players in CFB. I'm perfectly fine with Prince, as he's arguably the most athletic OL that Urban ever coached (mentioned in his thread) and has a great football IQ(also in his thread). Growing pains are part of going from HS to CFB
