2016 CFB Bowl Games Open Thread

bowl season! some sneaky good games this year

  • HOU-SDSU should be decent. SDSU has #2 rusher in CFB history and a top-3 draft WR. curious to see how the former-Hermanators show up.
  • Memphis-WKU would be wise to bring extra scoreboard lights.
  • BYU-WYO should be really good. decent year for the Mormons and they play good defense. smashed Sparty in East Lansing & almost took out Boise on the Blue when they were top-15. Cowboys playing really good ball last few weeks as well.
  • ex-McElwaynes get a true road game vs Idaho in the Potato Bowl in Boise. i philosophically despise this in principle but really pumped to have every major CO school repping this season..first time in a long time. GO RAMS
  • Miami(OH) gets a 5-7 MissSt that somehow makes a bowl. seems legit. losses were all to bowl-eligible teams but if 5-7 is eligible now too who the f knows what the actual qualifications are. Redhawks 4lyfe
  • Maryland should give the B1G some respectability (lol) against completely hapless BC. i have no idea how you score 21 ppg (bottom 10 nationally) and win 6 games.
  • Vandy is the really the pride of the SEC east, even at 6-6. smart guys and all.. I'm on the Commodores because NCST lost to BC and ODU lol
  • Minny gets Wazzu and the Leaches. there will be bombs and Minny can compete here..another decent shot for the B1G.
  • Baylor should have declined a bowl game from a your-entire-university-is-a-hypocritical-grease-fire-shitshow standpoint, but the kids still won 6 games and deserve to play. Boise St another 10-win year after late losses @WYO and @AFA (for the 3rd yr in a row)..still a good program
  • PITT and NW should be a damn good game. Fitz is a top-4 coach in the B1G imo and these boys can bring it. LOL PSU LOL Clemson
  • IU gets the Utes who run the football, and also turn it over excessively..good news for a really good IU defense. Hoosiers pumped about their new HC and i'm expecting a really good showing
  • KSU v AtM. Snyder is still around and he'll prob score like 60 somehow. Sumlin gonna be canned?
  • Alamo bowl w/ OkieSt and CU should be an awesome game. disappointing end to a fantastic season for the Buffs, but the future is very, very bright in Boulder again. hopefully Liufau can heal up that ankle and play a full game to show what these boys are really capable of. cheers to Mac, your Nat'l COY. OkSU got boned vs CMU wk 2 when the refs didn't know the fucking rules, and they would have been in the playoff chase if not for that, but they also lost to Baylor so...
  • scUM gets the Jimbo and this will be a good game. Dalvin Cook gonna play in the league and MICH is back and this is good for college football. i guess.
  • LSU and Louisville is an excellent matchup. i personally think the hate for Coach O is unwarranted and he will do very well down there. contracts be damned, he's only getting 3 years because the AD is a total bellend, so glgl. Jackson will still win the Heisman after losing to fucking Kentucky. whatever.
  • Iowa gets the battered Gators and this could be a bloodbath, but Ferentz has surprised me before.
  • Western & Wiscy. I have a feeling Fleck bout to get curbstomped after that collapse in Indy. this is the big time PJ..you ready for it?
  • Rose Bowl: I would have loved to see CU get in, but passing on a USC home game again was never realistic. Darnold is going to be very, very good when he shortens up his Tebow mechanics, and their lines are full of monsters. PSU is actually a really good team and this is gonna be a damn good one.
  • Okie and Auburn is a cool matchup too. Stoopers can score and Auburn can play a little defense kinda. I cannot fucking stand Mayfield and hope that SEC grit breaks a bone, or several. also fully expecting the Stoops tradition of lose early, win out in-conference and get embarrassed in the bowl game to come full circle yet again. i wonder how many players are salaried in this game...

there are always a few random ones that end up being the best of the season too. and i think we can all agree that NYE playoff games are a fucking terrible idea, and Michigan still sucks.

Quick, befor Ord finds out I'm posting something positive about Fredo...

Gus Ragland was a two time state champ in football - and another with the baseball team at Moeller. Miami red-shirted him as a frosh and he rode the pine for two years. This year an injury took the starting QB out with the team at oh and six. Gus took over and led them to six straight wins. the first team in NCAA history to win six straight after losing six straight.

The kid is a baller. His Dad, Dan Ragland, was the basketball coach at Moeller before Carl Kremer took over. He and I worked with the same group of students, though I was gone before Gus arrived at the school.

Great kid and I'd like nothing more than to see him lead the red hawks past an SEC, SEC, SEC, team.
