I think a few seasons is being kind but 100% agree
TPD won't be there to look the other way the next time he decides to do whatever he wants to whomever he wants to do it to

I'll agree with that when factoring in net yardage. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he runs for 30, but then due to sacks is closer to 10 yards or so.

This isn't necessarily true. The difference is the offensive game plan. If you were to switch QBs, it would be Sims 800 yards (as a starter), Cardale 50 (in mop up duty).

Cardale won't be playing Alabama's scheme on the 1st. He'll be playing the same scheme that got him 200+ yds in mop up duty.

My heartfelt opinion:
Sims doesn't have more yards because he was getting sacked and throwing interceptions instead of scrambling. Making plays is part of every offensive game plan, he just doesn't make them unless Cooper is streaking open and the line is pushing to buy him time. He is our key to winning this game because he's the weakest link. Even Bama fans know this. Sims isn't rushing for 800 yards anywhere unless he goes back to high school.
So yeah, I'm not very high on Blake Sims. Neither are the majority of Bama fans, really. They would give their left testicle to have AJ back and send Sims packing.

Ok, now I'm starting to believe that you don't know anything about the dude. Firstly, he only has been sacked 10 times and thrown 7 interceptions. So there's that. And their offense is more pro-style. Not many designed QB runs. JT Barrett would have had over 1,000 yards if not for his injury. So you're correct, I would change my original number from 800 to 1,200. Oh, and that's in college not high school. And lastly, I'm fairly certain your perception of Bama fans and their opinions on Sims was pre-season, not post-regular season.
Edit: Oh one more thing that maybe you didn't know; he was recruited out of high school as an athlete. As in, he's an athletic dude. As in, if in a system that asks the QB to run, he would be able to run, and run, and run. But at Bama they don't ask that.

I don't want to get into the middle of some of this, but I do think it's fair to say that Sims is the weakest link in Alabama's offense. They have talent at WR besides just Cooper, but Sims does a poor job getting it to them. Where Connor Cook is kind of stuck with Lippett b/c of a talent cliff between him and Kings et. al., Alabama has some dudes... but their QB is a 1 or 2-read kind of guy with a tendency to stare down the first choice (not always Cooper), and then instead of going to a dump-off or outlet guy he often tries to find Cooper.
Right now the QBs for both teams are arguably the "weakest link". Don't let Sims have all day to throw. Cooper, Henry, Yeldon will still do their damage... can't take them away completely, but you can limit their offense by forcing bad decisions from Sims.
Similarly Alabama will want to get Cardale unsettled.
Regardless, can't see Urban and co. tying one hand behind their back by not using the QB in the run game when that's one of their core philosophies.

I've watched pretty much every snap Blake has taken... have you? Amari is an amazing WR that has made Sims look presentable. Without him, people are calling for Blake's head this year.
My notion of Bama fans and their opinions on Sims is current, because I converse with them and have a stable of friends in Alabama. None of them would take Sims over AJ. Has nothing to do with preseason. Sims is a shaky QB with an NFL-caliber WR who consistently makes plays. So no, they still aren't shouting Blake's praises.
You would change your numbers from 800 to 1,200? How about 3,000? Hypothetical yards mean nothing. I'm basing my thoughts based on what I see with my eyes while I watch him play every week. Yours sound like they're based on what-ifs, so I'd say you don't know anything about the dude.

I've known this since before he was recruited. What's your point? Jalin Marshall was an awesome QB in high school, so he will throw for 3,000 yards in college. Except he didn't.

My only point in bringing AJ up is that no rational Bama fan thinks Sims has been playing at the level he should be as the starter at Alabama. If anything, watching him makes people nervous. I'm sure you can agree. Aside from being a fly on your wall during the Barn game, I have a pretty rough idea of how it went down.
