2015 Sugar Bowl Less Civilized Thread (Arguments/Shenanigans)

If Ohio State beats Alabama, then they will know how it feels to play for a NC in the modern era. Until then, well, you can't relate in a way that allows you to understand what I am talking about.

Players for Alabama have experience with it; our coach has past examples of this kind of big game. We pretty much know how much to put into what team, practice-wise. Alabama has a full month for Ohio State but only a week to prepare for either Florida State or Oregon?

Nope.

Alabama will also spend some time on each of those possible opponents. That is how we keep becoming champions, because Saban knows how much to prepare a team for any given game strategies.

You don't win championships by spending all your time on one single team. Ohio State is good, don't get me wrong, but I was hoping to at least get a shot at FSU. It should be Bama vs. FSU and Ohio State vs. Oregon. Y'all could take Oregon, I believe.

Wait 'till it happens, if it does. It's a great feeling and I hope Ohio State gets a chance, just not this season.
Seeing as this is the first year of the playoffs, uh yeah, that was exactly how you won championships. By focusing on one single team. You didn't have to plan for any other ones.

Since a few people want to chest-thump, let's take a look at what the Mighty Tide were up to while we were playing in back-to-back National Championships:

The 2006 Alabama Crimson Tide football team represented the University of Alabama for the 2006 NCAA Division I FBS football season trying to improve from a 10–2 record in the 2005 season. The Tide was led by head coach Mike Shula entering his fourth year at Alabama. Despite a strong 5–2 start, they finished out the season by losing four of their final five games. The team closed the regular season at 6–6 (4–4, SEC) and lost for a fifth-straight time to rival Auburn. Following the loss Shula was fired as head coach and defensive coordinator Joe Kines served as interim head coach for the bowl game.

The Tide were defeated by Oklahoma State in the 2006 Independence Bowl 34–31 to finish the season with a 6–7 (2–6) record. However three years later all six wins of the season were vacated as part of a penalty placed against Alabama by the NCAA for infractions committed during the season. As such, the official record for the 2006 squad is 0–7.

The 2007 Alabama Crimson Tide football team represented the University of Alabama for the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season trying to improve from a disappointing 6–7 record in the 2006 season. The Tide was led by its new head coach Nick Saban, a former head coach of rival LSU. Despite a strong 6–2 start, they finished out the season by losing four of their final five games. The team closed the regular season at 6–6 (4–4, SEC) and lost for a sixth-straight time to rival Auburn. The Tide defeated Colorado in the 2007 Independence Bowl 30–24 to finish their first season under Nick Saban at a 7–6 (4–4) record, however two years later the first five wins of the season were vacated as part of a penalty placed against Alabama by the NCAA for infractions committed during the season.

Modern era, baby! Wait, did the modern era start a few years ago when the Tide started playing "big boy football" -- please enlighten me.

Just saying. Not sure if people just started watching college football once their team started winning a bit or what, but there are no world-beaters to be found here. Let's not pretend to be invincible because you've had some success as of late.

Thanks for showing all of Bama's failures of late. I am now humbled and will graciously bow out before I am verbally taken to task.

Don't think Saban isn't already preparing for FSU or Oregon also? He is winning it all this season and OSU is the first step, either Oregon or Jaboo's team is going to be facing The Tide in the last step.

But, trust me, Saban is not taking only seven days, after Bama vs. OSU, to study and practice on his team's next opponent after your team. A month is a long time. He will allocate a couple hours a day for Ohio State, but also a good amount of time for both Oregon and FSU.

I'm not sure which part tickles me more, the fact that you truly, in your heart of hearts, believe that game-planning for multiple possible opponents is somehow exclusive to Nick Saban (his holiness on high) or that Alabama is somehow better prepared to play for a championship "in the modern era" than an Ohio State program who has played for as many National Championship in the past 15 years with a coach who has played for and won 2 to Nick Saban's 4.

I honestly can't tell if you are really this delusional or if you just get off on the sound of your keyboard and the gleam of these shitposts.

If it's truly troll bait, I've taken it... but I've learned not to attribute to malice what can more easily be attributed to stupidity.

The saddest thing is knowing you won't be around post-game if big bad Bama's "hurdle" jumps up and kicks 'em in the ass on the way to Dallas.
