Going off that sparty game though I feel we played tentative defensively. While we played lippett well we did nothing to force the issue against the run. We constantly asked our front 6 to stop the run. Notice I said front 6.

I feel Cook is 10 times the QB then Sims but we must stop their run game and it'll take more than 6 upfront to stop it. With Alabamas tendency to work the ball more so horizontally id hate to see us play off in a attempt to not give up the big hitter.

That's the game. Spread teams do that. When you get in the redzone and the field gets tighter that makes it a lot harder on spread teams though.

I think alabama for years has had that great WR out wide that gets teams into 6 or 7 man boxes (Cooper, Julio) and when that threat is neutralized running becomes a little harder. What makes doubling Cooper so difficult is how many positions he's put in to get him away from double coverage.

What truly makes a team unstoppable is a QB willing to stand in and go through his reads. With how lopsided the receiving numbers are I would still have that as a question mark on Sims. If I'm OSU I put 7-8 in the box, double Cooper, and then pressure Sims either force him to throw the ball to a double covered Cooper or scramble his ability to go through his progressions that up to this point haven't been proven.

You guys have the talent to make us pay for keying on Cooper but IMO the play calling and Sims stubborness toward Cooper have yet to prove otherwise. I'm a big believer in making a team fight left handed at all costs and stopping the run and Cooper is that perverbial right arm. If osu loses because sims throws for 300, Jones has 160 yards receiving, and your tight end catches some seam passes the id have no problem with it because Alabama will have proven they are just a complete team.

However if Bama wins with Cooper going for around 200, and the bama running game around 250 due to our refusal to commit more than 6 to the box then I will be more upset at our defensive plan then praisiing bama.

And if we lose by doubling Cooper and stacking the box and you guys still run for 250 with another 200 receiving to Cooper then damn we aren't even in your class as a team.

i think sims had that problem with his reads early in the year, but he has largely fixed it. So far, nobody has been able to stop the passing game through coverage, only with a pass rush. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that it hasn't.

Auburn had the right idea; they just don't play defense in general.
Sims keys way too much on one guy, and it's easy to bait him. Seen our secondary bait some guys this year... especially Vonn. Thinking they have to be licking their chops seeing some of that game film.

If our DL cannot put pressure on Sims and make him force some throws, it is going to be a very long night for the good guys. The same can be said about Bama's DL and Cardale Jones.

Urban and Ash both seemed to hint at the same during their recent interviews. Both harped on the opponents "tendencies" and Urban saying "everybody is human".
Urban also mentioned they have 2 WRs other than Cooper, but only seemed particularly worried about one other one (probably White after Kiffin's determined efforts to feature him against Missouri)

FWIW, Kings (WR) and Price (TE) indisputably had their best day of the season against us and Mumphrey(WR) arguably did. Nor did we completely shut down Lippett. Nonetheless, forcing them to fight left-handed was a successful endeavor. If we can win the turnover battle, which we lost 0-2 that game, I like our chances against Alabama in a first-to-40 kind of game.

Your QB is probably going to make a turnover or two. I think/hope Ala wins the turnover battle.

Most of the internet is dead right now. This site seems to have the most movement. It's like when you are hunting Whitetails and nothing is moving except for that thrush 20 feet to your right. You keep looking over at him because there is shit else to do.

Alabama has several good receivers besides Cooper. They don't get the touches because of the amazing success of A. Cooper.
