Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

Hello again. Sorry for seeming rude the other night. It's just that I imagine all Northerners, even those in the Midwest, to be obnoxious MF'ers who like to brag a lot. Sorry for assuming that this board and the people on it were all like that stereotype.

I know all of you are just regular folk; people are really the same everywhere. Hope it's a good game and the strongest, best prepared, and well coached team wins it. I'd be happy even if Ohio State won, as long as they did it honest. Keep it honest, refs.

You can pretty much limit that to the Boston area. If you'd like to generalize a larger - New England, Rhode Island and parts of Vermont.

Because we had problems giving up passing yards the year before. It wasn't a fluke that Oklahoma lit up our secondary in the Sugar Bowl last year. Look at how many different WRs he threw too. How short his average was. It was a great plan by Stoops, drop back and get the ball out fast to a bunch of WRs that were always open. Its the same CBs on the field this year as last year. They are SLIGHTLY improved. I keep saying words like slightly, comparatively, as well as that CB is still our weakest unit and that we don't have a shut down corner etc, etc. Im not sure why its so tough to understand.
Ok now I get ya... well I can see that then. Have teams tried to
Double cooper this year? He accounts for half of the passing yards from Alabama so I'm interested to know if Cooper has ever been limited through a great gameplan

Can't remember what I was watching but they used the word positivity on TV. Sadly nobody else understood why I was laughing so hard and I couldn't even begin to explain it.

As for this game, it is the first time either team will have played another team that recruits this well all year. Admittedly Bama has outrecruited us in the rankings. Lets see how those recruits developed. Going to be a fun game.

That's just crazy talk. I'm sure most of his highlights came from times he happened to be single covered, but he may be double covered 80% of the time.

Just to clarify, I know teams pressure Amari with double coverage. I meant that I've never witnessed a full game plan designed to shut Cooper down with double coverage ala ours against Melvin Gordon.

Regardless, I suppose I have time to go back and watch film on him while waiting for January to get here. I made it a point to catch every Bama game this year, but I didn't pay extremely close attention to what was being done to stop Amari.

Since we're back to a friendly stretch of conversation, I want to post my all time favorite Alabama play. Jesus I despised those Miami teams...

I remember listening to that on the radio, driving back from Orlando to Miami (was stationed there at the time) after watching Joey Galloway and the Bucks get nipped by UGA in the Citrus Bowl. I was cheering out loud in my car listening to Bama take down those shitbird ibises from Coral Gables. I remember that play particularly well. That, of course, took place long before Satan moved his throne to Tuscaloosa - back when I actively rooted for Bama. I really liked Stallings.

And IMO that's a difference between us and the SEC in that there isn't a great need for running backs there because for the most part the weather behaves all season and you can throw the ball more effectively than throwing in 20 degree weather.
.
1. If that were true you wouldn't see so many SEC backs in the NFL.

2. How did weather stop Ohio State's passing game against Minnie, Indiana and Michigan? Answer, it didn't. And how is cold any different than rain which frequently is a part of SEC games. Answer, it doesn't.

I would have agreed with the weather statement as little as the mid 90s, but John Cooper proved to Ohio State that you can pass the ball in all kinds of conditions - just not against Michigan. For that we needed Tressel and now Urban.

We get them in the last regular season game. If they have a good record and we beat them, it only helps us.
If Ann Arbor was on fire, I wouldn't walk across the street to piss on her. If Michigan lost every game between now and 3020, I'd laugh at them with every breath. The Game... the Iron Bowl.... Seems to me, its clearly THE GAME. Fuck Michigan.
