Nevermind just alumni, you have over double that in people from the State of Ohio currently living in the South raised on Buckeye football. Mili is right, distance is irrelevant.
The long arm of THE Buckeye Nation reaches all.
About 20/25 years ago read an article which said 20% of FL pop. were Ohio transplants. On that same note did a post a couple years ago re: state population, I'll give you an example of 4 states:
1960:
Ohio ~ 9.7 million
Georgia ~ 3.9 million
Florida ~ 5 million
Texas ~ 9.6 million
2013 estimate:
Ohio ~ 11.6 million
Georgia ~ 10 million
Florida ~ 19.6 million
Texas ~ 26.4 million
This is part of the reason GA/FL/TX now are the hotbeds for hs football recruits as it's a matter of increased population over the past 50+ years as well as weather and environment ie football is basically a religion in Texas. And of course FL is no longer considered a southern state because of OH/IL/PA/NY etc. transplants from the north. Nowadays, this would also apply to NC/SC/NM/AZ as well ie many northern businesses have moved down south for various reasons.
I digress.
And yes, there are Buckeyes everywhere as they travel better than any school in the country, even Notre Dame.
ND ~ 120,000 alumni
OSU ~ 475,000 alumni
Again, a matter of #s ie yearly student enrollment.
carry on
