Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

How many ranked teams in the Big Ten this year?

Which poll and who gives a shit?

IU was able to take the field with the team that won the SEC east and not only compete but win.

That doesn't jive up with the SEC narrative of every SEC team being better than any B1G team. Ditto for the Wisconsin LSU game.

Is Bama's defense really that bad? Is their offense really that good? Is OSU's offense and defense really that good?

If Auburn wins 49-0, it makes OSU not look as good. If Wiscy kills them, Bama fans will be scared.
If Auburn wins 49-0 it doesn't mean a damn thing. By that logic it should mean Ohio State should destroy Alabama since the Tide barely beat LSU in OT and LSU barely beat Wisconsin.

If the Big 12 had a championship game somebody would have gotten left out and would not have been the Big 12. They really need to get on that right away BTW. I think that's why somebody went to coach at Oregon State.

They'd still be up shit creek b/c now you're adding 2 more Mid Majors and splitting into 6-team divisions. TCU probably doesn't play KState - leaving their resume utterly barren, and Baylor only plays them in the CCG -- in which case you end up with the same situation as what happened.
The problem with this thinking is that it doesn't give them any more ranked opponents and just dilutes their schedule with more crap.
Had Bowlsby declared Baylor the outright champ, maybe they're #4 instead... but at the end of the day, Ohio State still had a better resume. There were several reasons Baylor was left hanging at #5: one being losing to 7-5 WVU (not really better than 6-6 VTech), two being a cowardly OOC schedule (if Ohio State played their OOC they'd be 12-0), three being their own Commissioner losing the plot and panicking.

How else do you explain it? It was an obvious step down. Maybe he just got sick of the AD, IDK. Going there didn't make that much sense.
He claimed it was for family reasons, though I have my suspicions it may have had to do with Barry being a little more involved in the day to day football operations than a HC would like. Not like Dave Brandon meddling, but...

Just trying to connect it to the Big XII championship, having trouble. No worries, not trying to stir the pot.

Best explanation I heard was that UW had higher admissions requirements than many other Big Ten schools.
