Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

Saban says Ohio State is best SEC team he has seen all year

There are still some who believe Ohio State doesn’t have much of a chance to hang with Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday, with the thought typically being the Buckeyes are an overhyped product of a weak Big Ten rather than a legitimately good team that comes from a weaker league.

Nick Saban doesn’t agree with those voices.

Alabama’s head coach made the media rounds on Tuesday in New Orleans and said that Ohio State is the best SEC team -– yes, you read that correctly –- the Crimson Tide have seen all year.

"These guys are going to look like the best SEC team that you saw all season long, if you're an Alabama fan," Saban said on his radio show. "They've got really good skill players outside and great speed. ... People view the Big Ten as not having great skill guys, not having great speed -- this is not true with Ohio State. They have all those things."

He's just buttering us up so when the B1G10 and SEC combine in one conference to rule them all. He can say how he was right.

Just got to the Blake Hotel on St. Charles. Didn't take long for an obnoxious Bama fan to show herself. As I was walking in some lady got in my face and said Roll Tide Roll. I just looked at her. She then told me it was okay, I could say Go Bucks back. I responded maybe tomorrow night it will be Roll Tears Roll for them.

I don't think you can say shock the world... But call it what you want.

"Shock the world" sounds a lot better than "really surprise the vast majority of college football fans and analysts."

I haven't checked the line lately, but it had been staying between 9 and 10. OSU was a 11 to 12 point dog against Miami in 2003 and that was considered a shocking upset.

Miami had been undefeated for a while and OSU had been squeaking by teams enough to be called the luck eyes.

This game is a three point spread with an extra seven tacked on for the cardale jones factor.

Most computers have bama with a 60% chance of winning and the average margin being about 5 points.

While an OSU win may not be the expected outcome, it wouldn't be shocking.

If the event was fairly expected, then Sere would be using that phrase properly based on how the kids use it (especially recruits on the twitters). That said, I'd say that outcome is very unexpected.
Who cares how the kids use it? Especially 20 year olds who have been handed nearly everything because they are gifted athletes?

Do you guys consider a 10 point win cruising? I know I don't.
