Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

Jones is very quick. I don't know how he is compared to Yeldon in other aspects but he's pretty fast
Yeldon's feet. He makes moves in the secondary and in traffic changing direction quickly. I don't think Jones is near the cutback runner that TJ is, but he is young and talented with something to prove. Maybe he will show us something. I think Saban is going to try and save TJ for the NC game. If we get in trouble I think he'll come in, but they want him as healthy as they can get him for that game. I don't think they are playing cat and mouse so much.

You can't save anything for the NC because there might not be one.

Yeldon's skill is somewhat subtle. His cuts are textbook perfect with his feet always remaining directly under his body. He can make multiple sharp cuts in a very short amount of time while maintaining enough balance to turn on the speed when things open up.

Saban said this morning that Yeldon would be a game time decision. I'm sure fowler will be used some too. He can wear down a DL with the best of them.

I figured this would be useful for folks here:
Side note...could you explain the bpSpy feed and clue me in to how that works please?

The rip/Liz defense was made to stop johnny manziel and aTm. I haven't really seen it used since manziel left.
It seems like:

a) It seems like it was used in the clip shown after that paragraph. Was that fairly rare? I know they bring up Collins a lot in run support, but I have not studied them nor am I as proficient at Ross to be able to comment intelligently on the subject.
Turns out the defense you ran against them didn't really matter anyway, since the offense was just let JFF run around then throw it to Mike Evans. IF you didn't have a 6'5" corner, you were screwed.
So that's what Cleveland is missing :p

A) yes. He does bring it out against highly mobile quarterbacks. But I think marshall was eating it up too much with the pass.
Notice the point in the game where that play was run. If not run right, that defense can get massacred by the pass. That's what happened.
They bring up Collins up a ton in run support.

Fowler shouldn't get many carries if any. I like Nudie, but only in goal line situations. He's best at receiving and blocking. He didn't have a good game in the SEC CG. If Yeldon aggravates his injury this game he's not going to be good for this game or the next. Saban spun it that since he had little practice time he wouldn't play much. IDK, maybe his coach speak is getting me. He's not one to fib about how he intends to use players. They are going to try to get one good game out of him I think.

I don't think he's fibbing either. It's not his style. He'll probably throw him out there a time or two and see how he feels.

I'd also question whether there was another opposing QB besides Marshall that could constrain the defense like Manziel.

He's sure sucking it up in the NFL, but you would watch the game and think: "What is the point of putting our defense out there?" I was impressed with his accuracy. He made a lot of mistakes in college, but he threw enough TDs that you forgot about them.

Marshall has not been that accurate of a passer. He only makes certain passes, it just so happens that he nailed those vertical routes. Coates caught the ball in stride. A lot of those were magnificent throws that would be hard for anyone to defend.

Both of those guys always played amazing against bama. Pissed me off.

Watching manziel in college was an amazing thing. It was can't miss TV.

The ND/LSU game yesterday worries me a bit. Not because LSU sucked, but because they looked befuddled against a qb they didn't have tape on. LSU doesn't generally adjust as well as bama, but I don't want our D to look stupid in the first half...again.
