Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

I think the breakdown is pretty reasonable. I disagree with the comments saying Conner cook is a better qb than sims.
Connor Cook is projected as a late 1st, early 2nd round pick if he comes out early. He's expected to be a mid to upper first round pick next year. Where is Blake projected? I feel like he was a late pick but that may have changed with his improvnig play.

Naturally OSU fans are familiar with the disparity between college talent and NFL prowess, especially at the QB position.

I'm shocked to learn that about Cook. I had no idea. I figure Sims doesn't have a future as an NFL qb. His throwing stats are better than Cook's and he is a better rusher too.

Saban and Kiffin know that whoever Cooper is matched against or whatever D scheme they face, Cooper is always their greatest chance (percentage) to move the chains or to come up with a quick score. Basic math. tOSU doesn't have that luxury to just go to one person all the time. Find a way to limit Cooper and we have a good chance to come away with a W.

I wouldn't want that luxury. I'd say that's the opposite of a luxury, actually. One-dimensional. Like Melvin Gordon.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't take too much offense to this, but I'm beginning to see more and more that there are a lot of fans of SEC teams that really don't know much about college football outside of the SEC, especially the B1G. It's making me more and more excited for Ohio State to show up on the national stage and do a little "teaching".

This is not new nor unusual. A few years ago a lady my wife worked with was talking about LSU being ranked #4 and how great they were doing. She knew my wife and I go to a few games a year, so she asked my wife where tOSU was rated. At the time we were rated #1. She knew where several S-E-C teams were rated but had no idea about anyone else. Living in the middle of S-E-C territory, this is certainly not an isolated incident.

Just surprises me.

If I were a fan of a top #10 team (pro tip: I am) I would know a pretty good deal about the teams also in that echelon, just for comparison's sake.

Hell, I often take time out to do a weekly Pac-12 recap when they've got teams in the mix, even though I RARELY get to watch any games.

I would agree with you about Gordon and UW. But Bama is anything but one dimensional. They can also run the ball. But Cooper is their go to guy. In that since he is a luxury most teams don't have. His stats and their record speak for themselves. They also have a solid D and Special teams. My point was that we do not have one dominating player like they have. I also agree with you that it benefits us that we don't have to count on one primary guy. Limit Cooper = Win.

I'm the same way. I crave football during the off-season, so I watch as much as possible when it's finally here. I've probably watched more SEC games this year than a lot of so-called fans. Especially if it's a team we might face down the road.

No team that I've watched has completely blown my socks off. Well, at least not before that Wisconsin game. Even then, I still wonder how much of that effort was a reflection of where the team is really at right now. Thankfully, we'll get our chance to find out soon.

I don't know how much more I can talk about this game without exploding from anticipation.
