Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

BuckDubs : In your post here - I noticed the seven buckeye leaves you display. I have seen them before and I happened to wonder if they mean something. Maybe like, they stand for all the Heisman Trophy winners we have at Ohio State?. Just wondering.
7 ships as well as 7 heisman trophies brought home. @MD Buckeye is pulling an alabama though and saying we 7 extra fake national championships apparently

Oregon fans like to tout the scoring defense numbers but I wonder if that has much more to do with their O then their D. I've seen a lot of teams go for it on 4th down in FG range and not just 4th down and short against Oregon because they are worried about the offense. In fact FSU did it stupidly in the first or 2nd quarter and didn't get it

hmm, I want Ohio State to win 'cause winning is better than losing ***shocking*** if you're a lifelong fan. And this may be the last time the Buckeyes are an underdog for a very, very long time. And they always perform better as the dog. If they win now, anything that happens next season is gravy/icing on the cake.

Just thinking of all the diehard haters who thought the Buckeyes/Big Ten were dead in the water after the VT game. Yes Virginia, it's been a longgg year.

What a long strange trip it's been ...

Kiippy:

1942 Bucks go 9 - 1, season doesn't end with the Michigan game, the next week they play Iowa Pre-Flight in the shoe. Lone loss is to Wiscy in Madison after several players get sick from water on the train. Boston College loses its last game and AP names the Bucks as National Champs. Bowl games were labeled as exhibitions and thus most sources named their champion at the end of the regular season. Big Ten did not permit teams to go to any bowl game other than the Rose... think segregation... Les Horvath wins the Heisman. Georgia (11 - 1) goes to Rose Bowl and beats UCLA 9 - zip and is voted NC by several sources that vote after the exhibition games are over. (Like that spin?)

1954, Bucks go 10 - 0, Beat Michigan 21 - 7 in one of the best "The Game" in history, stopping Michigan after a first and goal on the two then driving 99.5 yards to take a 14 - 7 lead. Beat USC 21 - 7 and voted Champs by AP. Hopalong Cassidy wins the Heisman.

1957, Lose opener to TCU in Columbus, then reel off 9 straight victories beating Oregon in the Rose Bowl 10 - 7. UPI and Coaches vote Bucks 1, AP votes Auburn 1, Bucks 2.

1961, (My Freshman year) Bucks go 8 - 0 - 1. Tie TCU 7 - 7 in opener as Hayes refuses to pass. Lay 50 on Michigan at Ann Arbor. Faculty council votes to turn down Rose Bowl invitation. OSU voted NC in Coaches Poll. Alabama goes 11 - 0 and is voted NC by UPI, AP.

1968, (I get up at 03:00 hours to hear game live on AFVN radio) Buckeyes go 10 - 0 including stomping of #1 Purdue and #4 Michigan, then run down USC and OJ. I collect $150 from loud mouth lieutenant from USC who boasts about how OJ is going to run all over the Buckeyes. God, was that ever a grand moment when the SOB had to pay up. Bucks voted #1 in AP and Coaches.

2002, Buckeyes given last rites the moment they are selected to play Miami in first BCSCG. Miami fans vote the Kaddish to be Ohio State's alma mater. Buckeyes overcome Miami team and the Zebras to win undisputed NC. Team and fans sing Carmen Ohio, while Miami fans book flights to the Wailing Wall.

1933 Ohio State had been awarded a National Championship via the Dunkel System in 1933, with Michigan, Princeton and Southern California also being given titles by different ranking systems. Loses to Michigan 13 - 0 in Ann Arbor.
