Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

I've seen it mentioned that the day before the game will be the best time to buy tickets. Right now I'm seeing tickets as low as $694 on Stubhub, $707 for the OSU side of the stadium. Anyone with more experience here able to throw out ideas on how low tickets might get as the game gets closer? Trying to calibrate expectations.

Two things worry me with oregon.

1. With their offense practically no lead is safe.
2. Our dline is very talented but not very deep. They can wear down if Oregon gets going.

1.) With their defense and our offense, a lead should be safe.
2.) Our 2nd dline has been getting practice and we all saw what Frazier did during the Wisconsin game. Plus you don't need to worry about a tired line if you force three and outs.

When Michigan State and the ducks played way back in September, I picked sparty to win. And when sparty went up 27 - 18, I thought to myself, MSU would be #1, if they continued to go on and win. Then it just seemed like the Spartans JUST quit playing and they lost 46 to 27.
I hope that this does not happen to Ohio State.

I think Ohio State's D is more capable of slowing down Oregon's offense than Oregon's defense is of slowing down Ohio State's offense.

I also think Ohio State is the far more physical team and will be able to wear the Ducks down throughout the course of the game.

Limit mistakes, don't put Oregon's offense in favorable positions, make them drive the length of the field more often than not and Ohio State will be in great shape.

Quite a few guys stepped up against Wisconsin on the D line.

Plus, I think everyone on the unit is going to be playing at a crazy elite level after going head to head with two of the best OLines in the country in Wisky and Bama.

Oregon's OLine is not at that level.

Something else that's huge IMO is how much discipline and gap control everyone played with the last two weeks.

That will be extremely important against Oregon where they value speed and misdirection more than being physical.

I think the Silver Bullets are capable of manhandling their opponent, but they can't play out of control and out of position against that offense.

The line has shown really good discipline these past two games- especially against Wisky, so I'm feeling good about that too.

And so what was different with Oregon and Sparty and what Ohio State did to Sparty in their own house? Ohio State is not Sparty my friend.

The national media will tell us who will win this game, and we can take what they say to the bank - although not in the way they think.

Late August: Braxton Miller goes down. Declaration - Ohio State is screwed. There goes their shot at B1G and playoff.

Early September: Loss to Va Tech at home as the capper to a bad day for the B1G. Ohio State and the B1G are officially dead.

Early November: Ohio State is an underdog at Sparty. No way they can win that one.

Mid to late November: That Va Tech loss is an albatross around OSU's neck that they will not be able to shake off no matter how well they play because they don't play anyone.

Late November: Win over Michigan comes at the cost of Barrett. It's over. We don't know who the 3rd guy is but Wisconsin is going to beat Ohio State because we want them to and because you can't get a QB ready for that big of a game against the #2 defense in the country in that short of time.

Early December: OK we can't ignore 59-0, so we will let you in the playoff, but you are going to get embarassed by Bama. Jones was never under any real pressure in the B1G CG. You give Saban and Smart a month to figure out how to rattle a 3rd string QB in his 2nd start, and they are going to throw the kitchen sink at him and there will be no way he and the OL will be able to handle that. Plus, you will not be able to run against Bama, so it will all come down to whether Jones will be able to throw the ball down field - and, obviously, he won't be able to do that against a superior SEC team. So, congrats for making it to the semifinals, but your role is to give someone for Bama to play to tune them up for Oregon.

Early January: Wow. OK you had a great night against Bama. For some reason, they didn't play well, but now you are facing what we all feel has been the best team in America. No, we didn't say that, but we all knew it. We just felt that we couldn't go against the SEC supremity narrative, but now we are free to tell you that Oregon is playing on a different plane than Ohio State. The Buckeyes will not be able to handle the speed of the Oregon skill players. And seriously, do you expect us to believe that a 3rd string QB in only his 3rd start ever is going to be able to win a national championship? And did you see that Oregon defense dominate an undefeated, defending national champ in FSU? Then you add in that Marcus Mariota is perfection personified at the QB position. He doesn't make any mistakes, and he certainly will not/cannot make any next Monday. He cannot be stopped, or even contained. No, this could end up with the Buckeyes being humiliated. If Ohio State can just keep it close, they should feel good about themselves.

... which is why I know what is going to happen next Monday.

I agree about the depth, I disagree about wearing down.

I said before the Alabama game that our players would NOT have their hands on their hips in the 4th quarter, and they didn't. Ohio State is getting pressure on the QB
still intercepting passes late in the game. That meams lineman are still hungry enough to fight their way into the backfield to force an errant throw, while the DBs are still fresh enough to lock down their zone/man and still make great reads mentally. When you keep the Doak Walker winner out of the endzone all game long, and then follow it up by completely handcuffing the Bilitnekof winner the entire last half of a playoff game - it speaks volumes of their conditioning.

Going into the game OSU is #4 nationally in interceptions made, and also one of the best in sacks made. Oregon comes in not having faced a defense nearly as athletic as our, while still ranking in the 60s with sacks given up by their offense. That's a telling tale on something they will focus on. I see them trying the same approach Bama took - double team Bosa and force your Runningback to pick up the blitz by Kwon or Lee. I think a 3 down-lineman is favorable here since Perry is able to help out in coverage over the middle.

They're very confident. To the point of obnoxious. They have no idea what they are up against in this game because Ohio State is battle tested at this point.

Most of them seem to think that we'll get a late score or two to make the final score respectable. Every time I have met an Oregon fan I have found them to be the single most arrogant fans for a group that has never won anything of consequence in football.

I like this.. I hope their players feel like that as well... I felt that no matter what Bama was saying their players felt like once they took the field the game was won

The only thing you left out was the lack of speed vs the SEC, you know the fastest conference in the land. And the BIG10 powerful slow guys.
