10 biggest non conference games are probably:
Ohio State at Virginia Tech
Oregon at Michigan St
Wisconsin vs Alabama
TCU at Minnesota
Michigan at Utah
BYU at Michigan
Nebraska at Miami Fla
BYU at Nebraska
Stanford at Northwestern
Maryland at West Virginia
Bama and TCU waxing the two best teams in the B1G West would not be a great start. I honestly have no idea what to expect from Harbaugh's Wolverines, but if it were Hoke with that roster I'd predict 0-2 against Utah and BYU. Nebraska is in the same boat against the Canes and BYU: 2-0, 1-1, 0-2 ... none of those outcomes would really be a surprise to me. Don't think the Mildcats can withstand the pounding of Stanford Football(tm), unless Stanford is bad, in which case a win doesn't validate anything because Stanford forgot to play Stanford Football(tm).
If Sparty is 100% healthy I like them at home against the Ducks on the strength of superior line play on both sides. Sparty's defense may even be Dantonio-era Buckeye good. But if guys are dropping like flies... Yikes.
As has been the case for about seven or eight years now, I'm hoping for a solid showing, while fully expecting our conference brethren to [Mark May] the bed, because that's what they do.
Don't like any of those matchups... Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Nebraska all lost their centerpiece and none have a QB.
scUM didn't have a centerpiece player to lose and doesn't have a QB.
BYU is a trap with an experienced QB... you don't get credit for beating them, only slammed for losing. And I think they can win both those games.
Maryland seems to like their new QB... so that's not too bad against WVU?
Not sure what to expect with MSU-Oregon... if MSU can pull it off, that by itself will be more than enough.
The good news is, don't need the conference this year. Ohio State comes in with all the momentum and the roster very deep... step on everyone's throats.
