2015-2016 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Yup. Realistically 1-3 and that wouldn't really derail this team if they are competitive in all of the games, win or lose. I'm certainly hoping for the "gold" but won't be decimated if it's bronze with competitive games.

Be very careful what you wish for. This program is miles away from being a safe bet to rebound after him...

I would give him a lifetime position in the athletic department, with a title appropriate to being involved in the basketball program. His best asset is his recruiting. Game day coaching, not so much. From what I've seen over the years, his "offense" is "pass the ball around the arc, then take a three late in the clock." We can certainly do better on that front. He can draw up a good inbounds play, so I'll give him that. But, he sits on his timeouts entirely too much, which allows opponents to go on huge runs, and it makes me crazy. What are you saving them for, coach?

And what is this tier 2 horseshit I'm reading in these threads? This is THE Ohio State University. They are second to none.

over the years ? Are you actually watching this year ?

his play designs this year have been much improved, but then I never tried to argue that he was a great coach. He is a great coach for OSU and it's an incredibly safe bet that his successor won't come close to his success.

in basketball ? Please. That's empty bloviation. For the first time in half a century, they were briefly a top team. During that span they never surpassed sparty nor kept pace with the other blue bloods on and off the court. That's not bashing, that's just the reality. Thad did a remarkable job elevating a forgettable, crippled program into a postseason contender and making us consider where they ranked, all the while the fans occasionally noticed.

When another coach comes in that does not have Thad's voodoo magic to recruit super stars to a football school, there will be a severe hill to climb with so many basketball powers in this league (let alone if OU or some acc teams jump in next )
