Opinions are like noses, everyone has one. Outsiders (like me), watch (or tape) what we can of tOSU basketball, and then watch when able. In my opinion (notice the opening lead), I believe that the freshmen felt they were entitled to more minutes than they got. At the same time, I also believe that Matta had 'the talk' with them after the season, and let them know what they had to do better with if they were going to GET more minutes, and the dots were not able to be connected. Grandstaff's father might have put it best - they wanted my son to rebound, play defense, pass, all things he doesn't do....kinda sums it up for me. Giddings was the biggest loss (in my rose tinted glasses), and he wouldn't last a half if he started, as he would foul out pretty quick. Loved his enthusiasm, but gotta play within yourself. Mickey was shakey at best, waaaay before he set foot on campus, and no one has really said why he lost 10 (?) games because was ineligible. He did several things well, passing and court sense, but really not at the B10 (much less tOSU) level. Hence his recruitment to Santa Barbara. The Gauchos field a pretty nice team, but not the level of Pac10 schools. These kids have been coddled all their life, told how their [Mark May] doesn't stink, and when they get to the college level, their weaknesses outweigh their strengths. So they look for greener pastures. Anybody out there ever transfer schools because of a major switch, and where you were isn't the best school for the new major? Kinda similar. Anyway, the sun will come up tomorrow, and tOSU will field a competitive basketball team. Jent might be the 'heir apparent' to Thad, but his resume has more holes than accomplishments. We'll see. I hope he'll enjoy the college game, and recruit well. Go Bucks!
