2015-2016 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Michigan State certainly looks like they will be a National Championship contender this year just depends on if they get a 1 or 2 seed now. Forbes from CSU has been a huge pick up for them the last 2 years.

I think the 3 teams that have the best shot to win it all this year are Michigan State, Kansas and North Carolina. North Carolina may get undone if they have a bad shooting night but they can rebound.

It will be interesting to see if MSU or UNC get a 1 seed or not.

Well, that was as bad as the other 2.

If they go to the NIT, great, maybe they can get a head start on next year, but I have a feeling this team won't have the desire to be there. Otherwise, I think Matta has his work cut out for him to get them ready for next year. Ball handling and passing just weren't strong enough. Defense was a weak point at times, especially transition D. And of course, they have to get more consistent at putting the ball through the net. Sparty's absurd FG percentage isn't luck, it's a lot of hard work. That kind of consistency should be their model.

What the hell? Ugh, at least look respectable in a blowout.

This team needs to get A LOT better over the offseason. A lot better.
Indeed they do. Lot of flaws on this team. Serious flaws. I've been pretty vocal about how I kinda think they are who they are. Not a lot of improvement across the board as the season went on. Sure, there were games here and there, but they've not shown nearly enough sustained growth for me.to feel much better about next year. Maybe they use the NITand off season to get A LOT better. I certainly hope so.

A couple of changes I'd suggest is bringing in a new Strength and Conditioning Director and perhaps replacing one assistant coach.

I think the team greatly needs to either get stronger, more aggressive or faster. So new S&C would be more important than changing assistant coaches.

The mentality of aggressiveness or competitiveness doesn't seem to be there. Energy needs to improve.

Just frustrated right now, because I know that Thad is a good coach, a cerebral coach and this year's team is up-and-down.

I don't know that I have seen a team get blown out this badly this many times in one season. In my opinion that is as much mental/attitude as anything. Matta's two former teams will be dancing and Xavier has a good chance to go deep in the tournament. It is very frustrating to see where this team is in comparison. I hope Thad can find a way to turn things around next season. Hopefully Tate comes back strong and the team works hard and grows up during the off season.

I hope our young team look at the NIT as a chance to start getting better next season. Everyone should be back, so it's an opportunity to improve in a one-and-done environment.
