2015-16 Ohio State Quarterback Discussion

well, FWIW Mel Kiper has said Cardale is the best pro prospect of the 3, so we're not the only ones

Ok and that proves what exactly?

FWIW I've never considered Braxton a true NFL prospect. JT has exactly 12 games under his belt and at least another year to go as well. It's not exactly a reach to say a guy who has a rocket launcher attached to his shoulder and is also 6'5 is the best prospect.

That said, Kiper was also in love with Geno Smith and Johnny FUBAR at various points in time too. His analysis is as insightful as those gaming magazines where a developer can pay them for a good review.

Matt Flynn made himself tens of millions of dollars off of one meaningless game in Week 17 against the hapless Lions. It's not out of the realm of possibility that an outstanding B1G championship, a big game against Bama, and a win in the NC could attract some professional attention. What's surprised me most about 12-Gauge is he's actually been very accurate. I'm really impressed and I definitely wasn't expecting to be.

Believe what you want I guess....I think it's pie in the sky type thinking...I don't think any of them are really NFL prospects at this point in time.

EDIT: Although Cardale can probably do a hell of a Byron Leftwich impersonation....

Oh it's definitely a long shot. If we were to declare though, if he had an amazing workout, I could see a team taking a flyer on him. At this point though, I don't know if there's anything he could do to be a 1-3 round QB without another year of film.

You recall jamarcus russell was a #1 pick, right? Of course that was the Raiders, but I won't be surprised to see some team fall in love with Cardale's measurables, especially if he gets decent PT over the next couple years.

What started this conversation was the chances of him declaring after this year. If he gets significant playing time in the future anything is possible.

Fair enough, that's obviously not happening (trololol isn't my preferred source for legit insider info), but put Cardale in the combine even this year and some scouting dept could very well spend a mid-round pick on CJ's crazy measurables. He is kind of a freak.

Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him give it a shot if he has one more good game.

Amazing position to find himself in.

I'd be pretty shocked. Only 3 starts, although they're huge starts, and while he's got the best physical tools for the NFL why would any NFL team take him before the 5th or 6th round? He'd be much better suited to transfer if he wants to do anything.

IMO Braxton, as much as I love watching him play QB, won't ever play that position for OSU again. Even if his arm fully heals (which would surprise me) he won't be able to practice until the late fall, correct? No way he can beat out JT or Cardale after missing that much practice time while they take reps with the offense. So that really only leaves 2 experienced QBs on the roster. Both guys could stay and conceivably get a lot of playing time (although obviously not as much as each might want).

As for who starts; Cardale is clearly the most physically talented (and that's no shot at JT, CJ's just a freak) but JT has had so many more snaps with the offense and seems to run it smoother, even though he doesn't have the arm or size. But either one is awesome, I just hope everybody sticks around for one more year.
