2015-16 Ohio State Quarterback Discussion

I'm not convinced that Braxton's shoulder will allow him to throw efffectively, and/or I think he could/should switch positions. However, let's say he can and does play QB, what are the chances that he wouldn't miss multiple games? He is 0/3 being able to play every game of every season.

JT is clearly more durable, but he sprained a knee, and broke an ankle.

Cardale is, apparently, indesctructible.

Give me all three. I'm selfish.

Cardale Jones needs to decide:

Choose to learn in the NFL

Or

Compete against Braxton Miller, JT Barrett, Stephen Collier, Joe Burrows, and Torrance Gibson

He will get drafted if he goes. He may not get drafted high, but he will get drafted.

It's an impossible decision. Let's say Braxton decides to play the "Percy Harvin" position, and do some creative things at something other than QB, and JT Barrett develops a post-surgical infection in his ankle, and misses the whole year. Cardale would have a full year playing QB, and would likely be in position to earn first round money after the end of next season if he performed well.

On the other hand, if he is in a 3-way competion for QB next year, and he ends up sitting for most of the year, that wouldn't be good for him.

Right now, his stock is high, but has reasonable questions that go with it. What's the best he could hope for? 3rd round? But it could go to the 4-6 rounds. Then he is a late round pick with a decent signing bonus and a salary of 500K. Not bad, but far from a multi-million dollar signing bonus and salary.

Good luck to him making that decision. He could be costing himself huge money either way. On the upside, the consequences of making the wrong decision will still bring him more money than he ever dreamed of.

Given how he'd probably destroy the Combine, lack of gametape to nitpick, the poor QB class this year, and how the NFL yearns for guys who can stand tall in the pocket... would not surprise me at all if he moved steadily into the 2nd round.

The guy I will be surprised to see stay at this point is Braxton Miller. Assuming his arm strength is still there post recovery, there are places he can go and be the unquestioned starter in 2015, now that he has graduated. I'm not rooting for it, but it may well be in his best interests if he still has visions of a professional career. If it's a 2 QB situation I can absolutely envision a scenario where both play. Meyer has managed that type of situation in the past, and won.

I tend to agree that Miller would be best served moving on. He can go elsewhere and be THE MAN from day 1. Nobody will ever doubt his love for tOSU. Oregon or LSU would be great landing spots for him. No shame in being Wally Pipp'd by a near Heisman finalist and National Champion.
