Last season, BTN had Archie on during the Purdue game to promote the show. He said Michigan shouldn't complain because "We played at their place and they still didn't beat us." I think, though, that had Franklin not been injured Michigan would've gone to the Rose Bowl.Thinking about 1973, why was Michigan screwed? If the positions had been flipped, would they be saying that Ohio State got screwed? I understand that Ohio State went after the 1972 season, and that Franklin was injured, but that's irrelevant, in my opinion.
Check the thread for that BTN show they did about it. I felt the same way. They all acted like it was obviously going to be Michigan going as soon as the game was over. Even when my dad told me the story when I was a kid, he made it seem like he expected it to be Michigan.Thinking about 1973, why was Michigan screwed? Probably, since something like 6 of the 10 people who voted for it had ties to Michigan. Of course, they act like they got screwed because somebody with Michigan ties didn't just blindly pick Michigan.Last season, BTN had Archie on during the Purdue game to promote the show. I was sitting almost directly behind the goal post. He choked and missed it. One of my greatest Buckeye memories. They need to get over it.http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=162&f=2019&t=12790216
There's still awfully butthurt about 1974. (Mike Lantry missed a field goal that they think he made. It would have won the game for Michigan.)
1972, also. (Some guy they think scored a touchdown, but he was called down. They lost 14-11.)
1973, too. What's the German word? Schadenfraude?
Michigan fans love to bring up 1969. I like to bring up the seniors of 1974, who lost 2 games in 3 years, and never played in a bowl game.

I could tell well enough that the girl next to me (who I had never seen before) and I immediately started hugging each other and and jumping up and down screaming. Of course, if the kick would have been wide (which it was not), I would have felt it was my duty to console her.Awesome. I was still a year and a half away from being born, so my only memory of seeing it is the footage I linked. With no depth perception, there's no way to be sure he made or missed it. It sure seems to go pretty far to the left, though. Also, from the descriptions I've heard from Michigan sites, the whole stadium went silent because they all knew he made the kick, and erupted when the refs blew the call. But seriously, on a close kick, how many people in the stands can tell whether it was good? Not many. It sounds as though you could tell, but I'd bet 99% of the stadium had to wait for the call from the ref, assuming the kick really was close. I was in C deck, west sideline, about the 10 yard line near the open end when Ohio State beat Purdue in 2003 in overtime. Purdue needed to make a field goal to extend the game to a second overtime. That kick was REAL close. I couldn't tell if he made it, though. The stadium got pretty quiet, because we couldn't tell if it was good or not. It wasn't because we thought it was good - we were waiting to cheer or not based on referee's call.
