2014 TSUN Shenanigans and Arguments

Because it's his MO. He did the same thing at Stanford when they were asking him about the Niner's job as the season was coming to a close. He gave the exact same response. "I only talk about the job I have." I don't expect him to say anything until he's officially released from San Fran. Then we'll see what happens. I really don't know.

I'm sure San Fran is interested in seeing him stay, but they have zero leverage so they aren't getting anything for him. JH isn't going to agree to any trade that benefits San Fran. IMO
There's a difference between leaving a job and being forced out from one.

This. He is a helluva coach, but as has been said ad nauseum, also an insufferable asshole. He'll never last more than a few years at any job. When you get run out of town by a franchise that was flatlining before you got there, then took them to three conference championships and a Super Bowl, that says something. That is a special kind of asshole. Then again, that kind of asshole might fit in perfectly with the raiders...

The roster is a 1 year rehabilitation to being a 9-3 team. However, it will take 3 years to get to where they want to be for one glaring reason: QB.
I don't disagree with the analysis - but the Buckeyes could have been 9 - 3 or better in Braxton's first year had it not been for the loss of leading receiver DeVier Posey, leading rusher Boom Herron, and top OL Mike Adams. Likewise they have survived this year with a first year QB. Penn State had a decent season in Hackenberg's first year.

IF they get Hairball and IF he finds a QB somewhere they could be healthy faster than we care to think.

QBs are notorious for deciding early and Harbaugh is not well known for developing QBs (he had luck but has also not developed Colin K at all)

Is there a point in your career where you can't really be "developed" anymore? IF JH leaves San Fran and Kap gets crazy good after that, then it's a topic worth revisiting.

as for osu in Braxton's freshman year, they could have been 9-3 with better coaching, IMO. Fickell had a deer in the headlights look for most of the season. He was almost like Hoke. He managed to pull it all together vs Michigan, and probably should have won that game except for a an overthrown pass or two.

To be clear, I don't use Kaep As evidence that he can't develop qbs. I think it just weakens any instant splash commitments he would try to make this winter.

He wasn't run out, but they weren't particularly sad to see him go.

FWIW, Stanford's official response: Hennessy and Bob Bowlsby, Stanford’s athletic director, both released statements in the wake of Harbaugh’s departure.

“We are grateful to Jim Harbaugh for re-energizing the Stanford football program over the past four years,” Hennessy said. “He helped build momentum that we are confident will continue into the future. We made Jim the best offer we could commensurate with our role as a university.”

“Jim Harbaugh has done an outstanding job of advancing the football program at Stanford University and I am grateful for all of his tremendous work,” Bowlsby said. “Coach Harbaugh has led the program with integrity, vision, enthusiasm and energy and his teams have played with precision and exceptional passion.”

I saw this on an ESPN ticker yesterday: According to Joe Pequeno of CBS5, Michigan's offer is for six years and $49 million.

Is the scUM job so bad that they have to pay someone $8.1M per year (more than any current NCAA head coach) to take it?

The only upside of that is that it would really piss off Saban (who makes less, i.e. only in the $7M+ range).

They could dig up Vince Lombardi for HC and Bill Walsh for OC and they would still have to deal with Sugar Shane being the only QB on the roster in '15. The ghostly duo would then have to go find a god one, have him start as a true freshman in Columbus in 2016.

Meanwhile the same fan base that turned on Brady Hoke in the span of 3 years will be 2 years into expecting Harbaugh to walk on water and seeing him with wet pant legs.

Go get the cocky motherfucker. He still has bills to pay from the 80's and OSU still has Urban Meyer.

Fuck M*ch*gan

Tsun seems more concerned w/ a name hire than with the best long term hire. Even if hairballs isn't stringing them along as leverage for another nfl job:
1) they've got a small class right now and no guarantee that hairball will magically flip a bunch of recruits ala urbz. He'll have a lot less time to do it too.
2) his name will be thrown out there for every open nfl job starting in 2015. Other staffs will use that with recruits telling them that hairball won't be sticking around. How long will it be before a dallas or giants type job opens and he takes off to chase that sb ring again?
3) they're planning on paying sb winner/multi-national champ money for a guy with neither. If he doesn't at least win the b1g in one of his first 2 years some ppl might start questioning why they're paying so much. And those first two years will be with morris/bellamy as qb the first year and with trips to osu and msu in year two.

They'd probably have been better off getting mullen the week after the game, and letting him salvsge their class.
