I believe we will need 2 middle line backers to make it thru the season, which now has 2 extra games: B1G title game and 2 game playoff games.

And the good news is that we seem to have 2 middle line backers.

Navy's offense has two fatal flaws

1. if a team has more than a week to prepare, they usually struggle

and

2. disruptive defensive lines give them fits because of their lack of size up front.

Ohio State won't have too many issues if the defensive line shows up to play.

As for Grant being a DE - I don't think he's really big enough to be a true DE.

All of what you said is negated by my memory of what happened in 2009 against one of Tressel's finest defenses.

Edit: save for the Grant part. I don't think he's big enough for DE but at 240 he could play the LEO/Viper/Bandit - whateverYAcallit.

Except the defensive line kinda took that game off after trying to take it over for a bit. That was a weird game. If the defensive line shows up, Navy's offense can't do much because disruption in the backfield ruins the option.

I do recall going up 2 scores and the team looking a little lax. However I will give credit where it is due, Navy fought back. Yes, we have the superior talent. I will however, never underestimate the effort put forth by any service academy. It's not going to be a gimme.

edit: I do also remember both teams taking the field together. I'm truly hoping they do the same this year. That gave me goosebumps.

Yeah and that was probably Navy's best team in nearly 50 years as well.

Navy will give Ohio State their best shot on August 30th. Hopefully the effort is there early.

And I for one, ALWAYS hope that our military (starting with our service academies) NEVER give up, but put forth a valiant uncompromising 150% effort. It is to be expected out of Americanism. Having said that, it sounds a bit trite, sappy, and ? when I read it, but if you let off the gas pedal, then bad things happen. Not just against military teams (outmanned, outgunned, etc), playing prevent defense, etc. then expect to them to get up off the ground and pound you back. Not too sure how many homilies I got into this one, but if you establish superiority, then you must keep it going, THEN put in the #2's to gain experience. Not sure when that time would be, but I'm not paid $5 million a year either. Go Bucks
