2014 Spring Game, April 12th @ 1:30p ET

WRs. When Philly Brown got beat up at the end of the season, Devin Smith became ineffective.
If they have to battle for playing time that's a good thing as the unit as a whole is weak right now. There is lots of young, unproven talent so let them battle!

Don't have much time but Darron Lee and Josh Perry's play really stuck out to me, which is a God send. Very fundamental tackling and we are playing much tighter in the secondary. Lots of encouraging signs from the defense. The offense is going to be more than fine once they establish some continuity on the OL...the DL tends to dominate in a scrimmage setting.

I kind of wish Urban would have left Spence off the list. There seemed to be quite a few guys looking to get those reps for the first two games.

Marcus is a question mark with academics but even if he can't play, Tyquan Lewis looked great and apparently has all spring...color me impressed for sure. Hopefully Marcus rights the ship as well, he looked incredible in the Orange Bowl in place of Spence. And even when Spence does come back, both guys should rotate in a bit since Johnson likes to rotate heavily on the DL and they appear more than capable.

The only consistent wr graduated. If Devin wants to lock up his job he needs to become a lot more consistent at catching the football.

I think he will. One thing is for sure he is definitely our home run threat, especially on the deep ball. Dontre becoming a great slot WR will surely help as well, too much speed for teams to contain if we can put it all together this season.

It's hard to take anything away from a spring game, but its clear the DB's played with much more techique. With the length we have at corner I love the press coverage.

I can never tell if a good play for one was more because of a bad play by another. Was the defense better? Or was the quarterback play worse? I'm looking forward to some real games so I can see the defense against another team.

I'm sure others saw differently, so just going to say that the pass coverage play was very much tighter (good), but the coverage was playing the WR's eyes, not the ball (bad). That will lead to pass interference. No one (that I saw) was looking back toward the ball. having said that, I liked the tighter coverage at the line of scrimmage, but worry what an Abbredaris and a veteran QB (Braxton) could have done to the CB's play. Was watching one eye on the OL/DL match up, and the other eye on the CB/WR coverage. Reversed eyes when the ball went from scarlet to gray teams. Look positive to take away from Spring Day, really neat to see a tight man-to-man coverage, hopefully the S's were back there when the CB's get beaten (and they will). Still not sure why Cardale is getting the 'pub' of being 2nd team over Barrett. Wasn't Guiton there as a QB helper? Also amused to see that Braxton had a helmet cam that recorded where he was watching.....no drifting over to the cheerleaders to give them the eye......

Hey, maybe we shoulda done like Nebraska, and have the two cutest cheerleaders come up with a play - it seemed to work pretty well in Lincoln. Go Bucks

I can't get excited about the corners shutting down The passing game in a glorified practice..they probably did fine last year too. Our passing game has not been that good lately. I didn't see a Sammy Watkins on the field Saturday much less a Taj Boyd.
