2014 Spring Game, April 12th @ 1:30p ET

It didn't look like he did at all on TV...everyone was just focused on the race between he and Dontre in the middle while Grant was flying on the bottom...although the TV view was at an angle. The second race between the 2 looked like the same result as the first to me.

I recorded the game, but most of the second half ended up running past the time slot. Based on what I saw in the first half, the offensive linemen all need to do a lot of work. No one loves Cardale more than me, but based on the first half of the game, I would have JT in front of him on the depth chart. I thought Dunn stood out as the best running back.

Because of the student races and such, I only got 2 minutes of the second half. I recorded a later showing of the game and the program after to hopefully get the entire second half. I also agree, the fastest student should at least look into the track program.

I extended my recording an hour after the time slot. Hopefully it got all of it.

There were a lot of starters sitting- I assume because they have starting spots locked up and the coaches didn't want/need to see anything from them.

I didn't see Decker all day- I assume he was sitting, and Elflein was out. Washington, Bosa, Spence all didn't play as far as I could tell (along with Dontre and Doran Grant- saving up for the race?).

The defensive line depth is so much better than the OLine depth and it showed all day.

That combined with play calling meant to challenge the QBs rather than to successfully move the ball down the field and you've got your explanation as to why it was a lackluster affair.

Decker, Elflein, Washington, Bosa & Spence have their spots locked up and didn't need to play. Dontre (stinger) & Doran (concussion) were injured earlier in the week and they didn't want to press it.

Devin Smith also didn't play all day until the last few drives when they put him in for the sole purpose of post routes for Cardale to launch it deep to.

The QBs don't inspire confidence but there is time for improvement. Still it's worrisome. Barrett brings the running QB more to the table so maybe that's a game advantage but it's so hard to tell anything from these games.
Dunn looks motivated and like a Big running back.
The WRs showed some ability but it's really too early to fully buy into us being better there.
Now, the defense looks positively worlds better than last year and that brings great hope! Apple will be hard to keep off the field.
Kicking looks fine.
