2014 SEC Discussion and Division Races

I hate to see anyone get hurt. Escpecially a potential career ender like what happened to Treadwell last night.

However:

Hollywood couldn't have scripted it better.
Geaux to Hell Ole Piss!
Why do these sorts of things happen to schools like Ol' Miss, Northwestern, Cal - just when you think they might have a breakthrough season they lose a star player and the whole things goes south?

And why can't it ever seem to happen to Alabama, USC, Notre Dame?

Florida winning today is like 2 bitchabatooka games.
How so? I don't give a rat's ass about either team and neither was going anyplace special, unlike the biatchabatooka game which took the Buckeyes out of the NC picture.

On the other hand there are some coaches that I enjoy watching lose: Spurrier, Weis, Hoke, Kelly and Mushmouth - I didn't get that thrill this week other than Tennessee beating Spurrier in the final minutes and I wasn't watching so I couldn't see that sour smirk before he threw his QB under the bus.

Mizzou winning the SEC would mean winning out.

If that teams wins their remaining schedule and beats the West champion, nobody is going to argue they should be the lone rep.

Its pretty concievable that Missouri could win out. I see Arkansas as their only threat. The SEC East is fucking terrible.

Florida, Kentucky, Vandy, and South Carolina have yet to play a team from a Big 5 Conference and they all still have 3+ losses. Mizzou dropped at home to Indiana, and Georgia just got bitch smacked by a terrible Florida team.

There have been two posts covering possible SEC chaos. One about a five way tie in the SEC West and another about Florida winning a three way tie in the east. These inspired me to check if the two scenarios could both happen, and it looks like they can. The needed results are:

Week 11

  • Georgia beats Kentucky

  • Auburn beats Texas AM

  • Florida beats Vanderbilt

  • LSU beats Alabama
Week 12

  • LSU beats Arkansas

  • Auburn beats Georgia

  • Alabama beats Miss St

  • Florida beats South Carolina

  • Texas AM beats Missouri
Week 13

  • Ole Miss beats Arkansas

  • Tennessee beats Missouri

  • Miss St beats Vanderbilt
Week 14

  • LSU beats Texas AM

  • Missouri Beats Arkansas

  • Ole Miss beats Miss St

  • Alabama beats Auburn
This would give us a five way tie between Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU and Mississippi State in the West, and a three way tie between Florida, Georgia and Missouri in the East. Ultimately Florida would win the tie breakers in the East, but I haven't figured out the tie breakers for the West yet.

None of this is outlandish by any means. It would make my year.

If that scenario was to play out ESPN would try to rationalize expanding the playoffs to 5 teams and having the SEC West teams battle it out on their own for the National Title. Since apparently no other conference in college football even matters anymore.

I would love to see a team like Mizzou come out of the East, knock off a Miss St. Or Bama in the West in the SEC CG. Then at least some SEC people might come back to reality and realize there is no reason for the SEC to have 6 teams ranked in the top 10 (IU win over Mizzou). There are other conferences out there that play good football that actually leave the South and their own back yard to play football games.

Then there'd be reason for 7 SEC teams ranked in the top-10. 8D
Admit it, you know that's exactly how it'd go down.

Still alive gentlemen - was traveling for work effective Sunday evening. Rest assured, I've signed in to take my abuse.
Couple of highlights from this Saturday:

1). "Cabernet" and "IPA" might both be pronounced with a "Long A", but they absolutely don't go together at all. Sunday morning at 9:30 am I felt like absolute death. Once I was able to move on Sunday, I counted that I had about a bottle and a half of wine and 5 IPA beers of about 7.2% ABV. I was 100% hammered.

2). When the pass into the endzone was ruled incomplete in the fourth quarter. I took a candle from Yankee Candle company and threw it against the door leading down to our basement. Want to know that "Christmas Snow" smells like? It smells like a fucking pissed off wife.

3). My wife had cooked a Big Chicken Pot Pie for our guest who came over to watch the earlier games with us. Seeing as I wasn't quite fully shitfaced when they were still there, I vaguely remember her telling me before she went to bed that she wanted the leftovers for her lunch this week. She was furious when she came down stairs on Sunday morning and found out I had drunkenly eaten 2/3rds of it and the rest was left out overnight to spoil.

I was a freakin' train wreck on Saturday. I own my special lady friend a trip to the spa for putting up with me.
On to Lexington this weekend. If they lose to the cats I might go live at Keeneland with the horsies.

I read something the other day where the author states that aTm was a good team because they're 3 losses were to good teams!

I keep hearing the excuses that the conference is so good top to bottom and that any team can knock off another any given week. Sorry, but Vandy, UK, SC, TENN, AR and A&M are not good football teams this year and they have been in a lot of games late with all these top-ranked SEC teams. They notoriously play down to their competition and they schedule patsy 1AA teams in week 9-11 when everyone else is playing meaningful games (I know they are forced to fit in their extra SEC conference game), and yet the conference gets a free pass b/c they are perceived as being superior. No other conference gets that luxury (example: LSU)

what 1AA school are we playing in weeks 9-11?
