2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

Being #4 helps FSU more than being #3, if Bama stays at #1. Puts them in the Sugar Bowl much closer to home. I think the committee may be possibly looking at geographical issues with seeding along with their other criteria. Just my imo.

I'm banking everything on Georgia Tech. The committee has set them up to be knocked out and us to jump in should they (FSU) lose and we take care of business.

I'm fine with it. Virginia Tech was a bad loss even though some here just can't get themselves to admit it. Georgia Tech has a legitimate shot to win and if we can't beat Wisconsin this week we have nothing to complain about. Even if we finish 5th that's higher than I thought we'd get once Braxton went down for the season.

Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out this weekend.

No reason for TCU to be at #3. You can talk all about strength of schedule all you want but head to head has to mean something. It is not like they don't play in the same league and the committee has to wonder how a Big Ten/ACC/SEC school would do playing in the Big 12. Not that I think Baylor is better than us but they really should be above TCU. Yes, maybe it was a fluke but they did beat TCU and you play the games for a reason.
Add screwing the Big Ten by dropping Minnesota and only moving Whisky up one spot is atrocious. Not to mention the current ranking pretty much requires someone to lose in front of us for us to get in. Moving FSU to #4 while they are undefeated, are you kidding me? I know they are winning by smoke and mirrors, but by the same standard does a 2002 OSU squad come in at #4 of the system had been running back then....
Experts my ass, they are just setting things up so that some teams do not have to travel as far....

All things being equal, I'd agree.
But it changes when one has played the only other highly ranked team in the conference -- and won impressively... and the other hasn't while struggling against the likes of Texas Tech.
If Baylor does beat KState they should absolutely be ahead of TCU... but so far they haven't.

TCU jumping FSU is rather interesting though... it seems like FSU has consistently fell bit by bit and I'm not sure if that's due entirely to on-field stuff or also off-field stuff.
Maybe the committee is trying to hedge their bets in case Winston's hearing has a conclusion before Sunday. Of course it won't... but that also has to be in the back of their minds ?
On the other hand it could be they're deliberately trying to set up certain matches. Previously it would've been an SEC Rematch in the Sugar... now they'd rather have FSU-Bama in the Sugar and send TCU to the Rose?

Bull[Mark May], human nature, it is in the back of their minds....
Only way we fix that and IMO get in is if we win BIG and impressively. Something like 50's to 20 should do it. Probably won't happen but I think the only way we jump anyone is if Jones completely goes off to prove we aren't dead on offense. I will say this though if we win and get snubbed I will be furious but on the other hand that's why you don't lose to Tech at night at home. It's going to be a tall order to get in but I got one more scenario for you guys what happens if Arizona beats Oregon? would they jump us? because honestly I wouldn't doubt if they did... right now the committee is looking for any and all reasons to keep an OSU team with a third string QB out of the playoffs.

I will say this if we beat Bucky it'll be very interesting to see what Urban has to say right after (and especially if we get snubbed). Good lord something tells me he would campaign very loudly for our team if we beat Wisconsin this week.

I don't look at it as TCU jumping FSU. I look at it as FSU being dropped a spot. Honestly, I think if the field were more than four spots they would have dropped even lower. It is a bit of a welcome change from the old system. Under the BCS Florida State would be #1 right now. The only reason they're not #1 in the AP or Coaches' poll at the moment is that they are following the lead of the playoff committee. I think TCU is a better team than FSU. I think Ohio State and a bunch of other teams are as well. I'll be shocked though if an undefeated power conference team is left out.

I also no longer believe that winning the B1G Championship against a quality opponent is going to be enough to get Ohio State into the field. They need somebody to lose. People are pointing to the idea that playing Iowa State next week is going to harm them, but playing Texas this past week didn't have a negative effect.

We all need to be Missouri, Arizona and Georgia Tech fans this week.

I agree for the most part, but Iowa state is so bad that you can't even compare them to Texas. Texas is a juggernaut compared to them. That line is probably close to 40. So that's how there is a slight opening there. If OSU were to win by 10 over Wisconsin I wouldn't be shocked for us to move over them.
