2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

IMO if a group of people that decide bowl games are in a room and the choice is between tOSU and TCU tOSU wins every time. The most important thing for tOSU is to beat the Badgers. If they can do that I think they jump TCU based on fan base and tv ratings which are the two things that a bunch of people picking bowl games care the most about.

Apples and oranges. The first year of the playoffs, the stadium will still be sold out whether it's Ohio State or TCU. The TV ratings (with no competition mind you) will still be through the roof if it's Ohio State or TCU. Yes, Ohio State is a blue chip brand while TCU is not, but in this situation, it's marginal returns if any.

Previously stated I think B12 is the 5th man, but now I think -- in the event that all 5 conferences have 1loss/undefeated champs -- the committee will use JT's injury as the deciding factor.
FWIW I do think GTech has a decent shot at beating FSU (better than the last few opponents). They need to control clock and keep Winston off the field, like they've done against other teams...

I think two of the following lose this weekend: Oregon, FSU, Ohio State, Baylor.

Oregon already lost to Arizona. FSU isn't good at football and Georgia Tech might be. Ohio State, well, we all know. And Baylor may have to beat K-State without Petty this weekend.

If two of them do go down, the Committee won't have much of a decision on their hands.

I'd probably add Bama, but closer to Oregon's chances of losing than an FSU/OSU/Batlor. Could happen, but not super likely. In a scenario where we win, I think we have a greater than 50% chance of getting in. Whether that be any team with a lose-able game losing (other than Baylor losing who wouldn't help much) or the committee putting us in over TCU due to resume and our team being so good that we could beat a top 10 Wisconsin team with our 3rd string QB.

I think GT beats FSU. And what would he interesting is if we would be #4 or jump TCU and be #3. I personally would rather face Bama than Oregon. I think Oregon is the best team in the country. That is, other than OSU with JT or Braxton. And who knows, maybe also with Cardale.

Bama has far more talent. I think OSU can pound an undersized Oregon on the ground, similar to the Rose Bowl win. I think any match up right now against an elite team would both slow OSU's offense and light up the scoreboard vs. OSU's defense. I do think FSU is going to have issues w/ GT if they can control the clock and not allow Jameis to dictate the game.

I also think that if Baylor beats KSU, the way OSU has looked the past two weeks and with their current QB status, it will be the determining factor in keeping OSU out of the playoff, regardless of Wisky result (unless they blow them out by 2-3 TD's w/ Jones at QB).

I understand the thought and it was great to see, but that was literally the 4 best ACC teams just barely beating 3 of the worst 6 sec teams. Only good win was Georgia, quite possibly the most overrated team going into last week.

The SEC East champ lost to freaking Indiana.
At home.

At this point, I think it's better for the top four to hold serve, and the Buckeyes go play in the Fiesta or whatever. Give Cardale three weeks of practice, and then have a pissed off Buckeyes team beat the shit out of whom ever they face on New Year's Day. Or maybe not. Maybe we come out like gangbusters on Saturday, then head into the playoffs and shock the world.

Who knows...

I still find it interesting the the committee has TCU ranked ahead of Baylor even though they know if they win out Baylor will be submitted at the BIG XII Champ.... IF everyone wins.. are they just going to magically swap Baylor & TCU? I know the Barrett injury will be held against us but there is a reason they play the games on the field and not on paper..

This system is idiotic. I prefer the BCS by a country mile.

I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt until after the final poll... everything up until that time is just filler for TV heads.

Agreed with this, for sure.

But it's one thing to throw out the traditional unspoken rule in the polls that major-conference undefeateds trump all, and another thing entirely to disregard head-to-head results between otherwise similar teams. I simply cannot understand the whole TCU/Baylor thing this year.
