2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

Lose. One more team out of the mix. If they beat KSU you run the risk of them jumping OSU and TCU, assuming that TCU will be #4, OSU #5 and Baylor #6 when the playoff rankings come out tomorrow evening.

That's certainly the quick reaction, but if you think about it, two Big 12 teams splitting votes could be better for OSU than one clear-cut Big 12 champion.

I still find it interesting the the committee has TCU ranked ahead of Baylor even though they know if they win out Baylor will be submitted at the BIG XII Champ.... IF everyone wins.. are they just going to magically swap Baylor & TCU? I know the Barrett injury will be held against us but there is a reason they play the games on the field and not on paper..

It seems like they're waiting for the KState game to swap, and in the meantime making a statement about soft OOC schedules.
Before injury I think Ohio State also jumps TCU with a win (and stays ahead of Baylor). Not sure how much the committee would hold that against us now, though.

So, if I read it right on the bottom line, Baylor has hired a marketing company to advocate to the media why they should be in the playoff....this shit be outta hand folks...we has done lost our way....

I say back to New Year's Day bowls and polls and screw this playoff scenario that we have been handed....

The committee is likely in wait-and-see mode at this point, as they should be. I hope the Bucks just worry about Saturday and let the chips fall where they may.

Yep, the playoff isn't even a year old yet, and it's already a farce. Thanks, Mike Slive!

Since VT at 6-6 is Ohio State's bad loss, shouldn't wvu and their 7-5 record be basically the same for Baylor?

Similarly, I haven't heard much of an uproar about the fact that Baylor needed to stop a 2-point conversion in order to preserve a victory against a 4-8 Texas Tech team last weekend.

That's because I don't think many in the media consider Baylor a true contender right now. I really think it comes down to TCU and Ohio State pending the results of this weekend.

I think it'll come down to Baylor and OSU if all three win this weekend, with TCU on the outside looking in. The committee will feel like it cannot put a team (TCU) ahead of a team it lost to head-to-head (Baylor) when the two teams are from the same conference and have the same record. Plus, TCU will be the only one of the bunch that isn't a conference champ, and the committee has said it'll value that. The fact that Baylor plays a highly-ranked opponent this year will provide the committee with the ammunition to vault Baylor over TCU. I expect it to look as follows this time tomorrow:

4. TCU
5. OSU
6. Baylor

Actually I think TCU will still be considered a conference champion. They'll split with Baylor due to the same record.

We'll just see what happens.
