2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

I, personally, still think we're staring down the following this week in order to get in:

Go Gata
War Eagle
Hotty Toddy (Ole Miss)
Guns Up (Texas Tech)
and always, Go Beavers

I'm not sure I actually envision any of those coming to fruition. Far from it. So, I'm concerning myself entirely to this:

GO BUCKS. FUCK MICHIGAN.

Here's the fun part. Everyone in the media, especially Frosty, have said the upsets will happen. Wouldn't it be a boot in the ass if none of them actually did occur?

They beat 3 straight top 10 teams, just ignore how bad those teams have turned out to be.

You guys just don't get it! Ignore those losses to Georgia and Missouri!

..One of the knocks against Mississippi State is that some of its wins have lost their luster because those teams have since dropped out of the rankings. The reason they’ve dropped out of the rankings is because the West has cannibalized itself...

I will take whatever and be happy. If I take off my scarlet glasses then I don't see a big difference between us and tcu and Baylor. I won't complain either way no matter who gets in. The only thing that would upset me is two teams from one conference getting in. I really just want to see us win the next 3-4 games comfortably.
The thing I will never understand about the Baylor/tcu vs bucks debate..
We will be 12-1 and they will be 11-1 for this subject to matter.
We have a championship game win more then either of those schools, and each played and FCS opponent early in the season, where as the buckeyes stayed 100% in the FBS this year.

Those 2 bulletpoints should tip the scale in the buckeyes favor with minimal argument in my IMO.

That seems to be the same thought process as the committee. However, you're not going to see the Buckeyes move up in the polls until - God willing - winning the championship game. Question will be if all chalk wins this weekend and next, does the committee have the balls to move Ohio State over both TCU and MSU?

Next weeks rankings won't matter, imo. I still fail to see how there are people that can go on believing that winning the B1G Conference Championship game over (most likely) a top 15 team to go 12-1 won't move The Ohio State University from 6* to at LEAST 4.

To that I say kent state is basically fcs. We all do it. Need to look at wins and losses and who is looking good or bad now. All 3 teams by the end of the year will have played 3 top 25 teams. I think that is where Baylor loses out. They only will have 2 top 25 teams. All have a loss. Tcu wasn't doing all that well the last few weeks but finished nicely with Texas. IMO Texas is similar to ttun, so we need to do same. We have also played down to a few opponents. It hurts that they beat minny by more. I think the final game gives us a nod. Really I just see two teams that will have played similar competition to similar results. The conferences are nearly identical with a few big names a decent middle and terrible bottom. I can't argue either way as long as one conference doesn't get two teams if we all win out.

Agree, that's why I said there will be no movement the next poll unless someone loses. I get the feeling that both TCU and MSU NEED 2 of the top 3 to lose either this week or next, just to cement their spot. I say this because as weve talked about already, a conference championship and a possible 3-0 against current Top 25 puts OSU in the top 4.

I don't believe the committee is logical. Think B12 is done w/o a lot of chaos... but I don't have faith that committee will put us above Miss St. They're already defying any logic being at #4... I don't see how that'll change.
You can also see how the Committee has been hedging bets in other aspects... the article is largely irrelevant now due to Marshall and CSU losing yesterday, but the author nonetheless correctly predicted the committee hedging their bet on Boise State, looking 2 weeks ahead... as contrasted with the Sunday polls.
Though I had mused that CSU would be at 25, I’ll stick by the general point of the blog, and I believe I had it right: The CFP committee was positioning itself to not have to reach outside the top 25 for an access-bowl choice and also to avoid the embarrassment to the system of having CSU ranked ahead of Boise State, yet have Boise State be the access choice because it’s the highest-ranked conference champion. I’m not going to say that was 100 percent the motivation, because as I noted, a case can be made for having the Broncos ranked higher than CSU because of the head-to-head win and I know the committee considers a loss to an SEC team (heck, even if it’s Vanderbilt … and in this case, it was Mississippi) not much of a blot.

Suffice to say, I don't think it's mere coincidence that Miss St. lost into #4, while a team with a much better resume got bumped out to #5.
We could have an elimination game with TCU or Baylor and I wouldn't trust the committee to jump the winner ahead of their #2 SEC team.

We are not going to "style points" past 2 teams - I don't care if we beat Wiscy 100-0, we're not moving into the top 4 if no one above us loses. If they do lose and we win the B1G we will get in, even with Cardale at QB.

Lose to the Badgers (or possibly Minny, but I doubt it) and none of this matters.
