2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

I don't know, a lot of national outlets are starting to talk up how much the Bucks have improved. I don't think we're going to get leap frogged if we keep winning like we have. A win over sparty and another one over corn in the B1G championship if they keep winning I think we're in the playoff. All of that said, we're still a young team, so I'm not ready to crown our asses. A hiccup could still happen at any time.
I don't disagree. Not really worried about polls anyways. Sparty's position gives us a good idea of where tOSU will land by taking care of business (I think we'll take over their position with a W in East Lansing).

Wouldn't be surprised at all if KState and OU basically swap spots. Wouldn't be surprised if Baylor remains ahead as well.
While we look better every week, VTech keeps making that loss look worse too... for now competition is tight in the top-15 and we'll be penalized.
Until we play MSU, I think we'll only jump teams with 2 losses.

Which is fine by me. Keep the team hungry, these 2 polls only matter insofar as the playoff committee is seeking validation.

This is really strange to say (type), but if Minny keeps winning a win in Minneapolis will help the Bucks. Minny will probably move into the top 25 this week. With a little chaos and a few more Minny victories they'll be top 20, maybe top 15.

Edit: And jlb hits ENTER before I do.

The problems I see with Minnesota are
1. We play them after MSU, so we'll already have a marquee victory or be out of contention
2. Minny finishes the season with Ohio State, @Corn, @Wiscy ... do they need 1 or 2 wins from that to be considered a quality opponent by the time the playoff committee is looking at total resumes? (rather than where SCe was ranked in week 1 or where Minny was ranked in week 12)
3. I imagine best case scenario is Neb wins out for a top-10 CCG game. That means Minnesota needs to win @Wiscy, and I have little faith. It's rare for 4-loss teams to make the cut, especially ones on a 3-game losing streak.

Yes and no.
Won't have first indication on how playoff committee actually operates until next week... but I suspect they will be highly influenced by the polls and ESPN's interests.
It's going to be very controversial leaving multiple 1-loss teams out... especially since I think we can bank on ESPN pushing hard for 2 from the SEC, and getting it.

As a result, I think they'll consciously seek to use the polls to build validation and consensus, rather than appear to have "gone rogue".
Secondly, they're doing their shadow committee thing on Tuesdays... practically impossible to not be influenced by polls released on Sunday.

Logically, they should.
But it seems logic takes a back seat here... otherwise we'd have no need for this over-complicated behind-closed-doors secret-vote bs.
Picking 4 conference champs doesn't require a huge process or their own top-25... =/
