2014 NFL (Well, Browns, so, sorta "NFL") Draft Thread

I can't think of a draft I was happier with at this point. It appears the RB we traded up for could be a steal. The Josh Gordon situation sure [Mark May]ted things up!
I woulda thought we could get a RB from Towson State in the 12th round.. cuz there's only 27 people that know Towson exists
and those are folks driving to Baltimore and missed an exit

The Hyde pick validates the Gilbert pick
The NFL is obviously obsessed with the passing game.. and primary interest is a defense / shutdown corners that can stop that passing game
but just when you're on all cylinders in preventing the pass
the last thing you'll be prepared for is a 235 lb monster back who is going to kick your ass
He's gonna bring us a lot of pride because he's gonna do great things for the 49ers

Yep. Agreed 100%

The Browns have had a solid draft. They've filled needs with each pick, although I still don't like Johnny FUBAR but we'll see what he brings to the table. Wouldn't mind seeing a safety and a WR today though.

Beat me too it before I could jump on this morning. This was the exact team I was going to reference, the 2011 9ers. Nasty defense, physical running game
with good ball control. A lot of TE use. I would love had another TE in Jace Amaro been available, of course I"m hoping we draft Abbraderris today. I'm pretty sure I speak for just about everyone in this thread who's watched the kid play that he could be a very steady receiver for years. Aside from my feelings on the Manziel pick, its been a solid draft. Gilbert needs to improve his physical play, I have no doubt spending some time with Haden and Whitner will do that. Our oline has picked up a good addition and I just had the ability to watch a little on Terrance West. Big back with good quicks, vision and lateral agility. Appears to have soft hands as well. I'm not at all mad about that pickup. It's clear what this coaching staff wants to do. Run the ball, play defense, no turnovers.

edit: If you put a Buckeye jersey on him he might be mistaken for Hyde. Again, not at all mad. Especially in the AFC North.

If you're a fan of Tressel ball, we should be able to appreciate this approach.

edit: What time do the picks start today? Can't find when...
Noon.

You're right, but 26 of us remember making fun of Michigan for almost losing to UCon, who got the shit beat out of them by Towson. Sixth ranked RB, despite his "unusual" background.

I forget the name...of someone drafted (DL or LB) in round 4 I think

He had just come over from Africa... was in high school
and went to sign up for soccer...
walked into the wrong room... and the football coach was there
coach asked what he was looking for... he said to sign up for soccer
and football coach looked at him and said.. nuh uh, you're playing football

I think the Browns draft is good. If Gordon wasn't on the verge of suspension it would be bordering on great. Given that he is, I'm surprised they didn't look for more weapons for their new QB.
