I get if the keeper goes up in the box and someone gets under him, but that was a little overboard for "protecting the keeper." Seems to happen a lot, though. :/

Agreed. I think the general area of the six yard box is a good place to prioritize protecting the keeper. The further he ventures outside of that area, the more the standards applied to outfield players should take precedence.
