2014 FIFA World Cup - Brazil

I haven't watched one second of World Fubu Football Championship. I was going to but then I saw The Goonies was only half over on TBS and I was like [Mark May]chea.

Seriously tho, even tho I don't give a [Mark May], fuck you if the US is your second favorite team because of that one summer you spent in that foreign country that changed you in ways us continentalists couldn't comprehend.
Hahaha. I am pulling for Germany because I will be there at the end of the month with my daughter's junior USA softball team. I am curious to see what it's like a week after a WC championship.

I know they were missing two of their best players

I removed the OP's name to make this a more generic discussion. Brazil is getting a lot of play about this fact, however two things come to mind.

1) Germany has played this entire tournament without the man could be called the best player in Germany. Marco Reus won the Bundesliga player of the year at the age of 23 I think, and also was named as 'the fourth best footballer in Europe' according to one list I saw. He also scored 5 goals w/ 3 assists in 6 games in qualification.

2) Neymar didn't need to be absent. If Brazil didn't decide to play goon football on James, then Columbia's players wouldn't have been compelled to foul Neymar. Yes, the ref should have stopped the fouling early on w a card or two, but Brazil has primary responsibility for their goon tactics that game.

The fact is, Brazil's defenders did not show up. The Germans were not challenged, and on most of the goals, the Brazillian keeper just stood there and watched the shot go in. Neymar does not play defense.

i remember wishing the year Portugal won...whichever team they were playing should all just drop to the ground at once. they were already losing by 2 or 3, so it wouldn't have mattered. it would have made me a big fan of whoever it was.

Huh?

Ultra nationalism? Ok. It's not ultra nationalism to root for the country in which you were fortunate enough to be born. But my comment wasn't really about rooting for someone else. It's about some asshole that spent three weeks on vacation in Spain and roots against their home country because those three weeks...well, unless you've been to Spain, you can't really understand.

Basically, I'm talking about some pretentious assfucks on twitter that use the world foosball tournament to remind everyone they're worldy. Unlike the rest of us slobbering Americans that probably watch NASCAR.
