2014 College Football Playoff Open Thread

Iirc, I read or heard last night that both Barry Alverez and Tom Osbourne are on the committee. Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall for the deliberations. Surely Alverez goes to bat for us after that beatdown...

According to yahoo (forde and weasel) Barry and Tom hate Baylors style of play because they are old, that's why wisky and msu are ranked... I think forde's time at ESPN brain washed him... His articles pretty much bash us for havin played a worse schedule yet doesn't give any examples

My personal theory on the playoff committee;

  • It's a behind closed doors group of folks who are there to divy out 4 spots for the 5 power conferences.(duh)
  • Its about ratings and money. Fans think its about a "fair" playoff/selecting the best champion on the field etc
  • The fact they don't publish a points formula (ala the BCS) tells me they are reserving the right to do whatever they want once all the games are played
  • Remembering it's about $ (eyeballs watching TV and asses in seats) think about the locations of the games
  • Sugar Bowl-FSU vs Bama....it takes a lot of gas to drive monster trucks from the panhandle/Bama to California. They also need permission from their Parole Officer to leave the state. These two teams will not help fill the Rose.
  • Rose Bowl-Oregon vs ???? You are responsible for making the best money making match up here. You taking Ohio State or TCU/Baylor?
So I'll be surprised if we aren't in and playing Oregon in the Rose but I have been wrong before and you know what? I won't really be that mad if we aren't.

2014 just ended with another win over scUM and the most epic beat down in the history of major college football championship games over a team/fanbase I absolutely loathe.

The whole damn team is coming back for another championship run in 2015.

Buckeye football life is good.

Spot on - especially the privacy part. That tells you what you need to know about the committee and it's real purpose.

TCU/Baylor want to know how you can justify putting us in. I want to know how you can justify putting one of them in when their own conference can't decide who the champ is. The committee shouldn't have to decide who the champion is if you can't. Your firm has to be solid if you want to do business with the big boys. If you're still shrugging your shoulders when it's time to lay your cards on the table, you shouldn't be sitting there.
