2014 Bowl Games Open Thread

Nope and when these arguments are made, it seems to forget the decades-long relationships these bowls have with the conference commissioners.
Yep and now with it being 6 bowls rotating the playoff games instead of 2 separate new games, it completely messes up conference champions going to bowls that are part of the playoff in that given year if they aren't in it. ie if we didn't make the playoff this year we wouldn't go to the Rose Bowl.

I was actually surprised when they did the 6 bowls. I'm not sure why they didn't just make 2 new playoff games, bidded for every year. If that were the case I could see it being at Indy or somewhere. But the SEC would never allow it to be outdoors though.

One need only see where the bids for the Finals have gone so far to know it won't be north of the Mason-Dixon anytime in the near future. And thus "neutral" Semis wouldn't either.
2014 Semis - Pasadena, New Orleans. Final - Dallas (same site as Semi in 2015)
2015 Semis - Miami, Dallas. Final - Phoenix (same site as Semi in 2016)
2016 Semis - Phoenix, Atlanta. Final - Tampa Bay
