2014 Bowl Games Open Thread

This just makes it all the sweeter. ND won, but not really. LSU lost, but will have plenty to cry about.

I hate ND as much as I hate any SEC team. I was rooting for the proverbial meteor.

I've seen many a controversial call go ND's way over the years, so I'm not surprised to see it happen again.

So, you can play a bowl
Game in Memphis, but you can't play one in Chicago...

My feelings went back
And forth and ended with the desire for a meteor. Glad to see the SEC lose, but ND ... If the Bucks lose to Alabama you can bet the ranch ND will be ranked ahead of them
next fall.

So instead of a meaningless bowl game no one cares about in Memphis you'd rather have a meaningless bowl game no one cares about in Chicago? And are there any corporate sponsors lining up to put a bowl game in Chicago? My guess is probably no. And it won't be a playoff game - the Bowls that be (meaning the Big 6) aren't going to release that strangle hold even if it was considered, which economics, lack of a sponsor and the reality of a new bowl with zero prestige would mitigate against.

I was actually surprised when they did the 6 bowls. I'm not sure why they didn't just make 2 new playoff games, bidded for every year. If that were the case I could see it being at Indy or somewhere. But the SEC would never allow it to be outdoors though.

Nope and when these arguments are made, it seems to forget the decades-long relationships these bowls have with the conference commissioners.
