Game Thread 2014 B1G Championship Game: tOSU vs. Wisconsin, Dec. 6, 8:17 PM ET, FOX

I haven't seen anyone post about Joshua. He's a five year old Buckeye fan who the players have been sending little video messages to over the last year or so, telling him to be brave and stay strong, and that the Buckeyes are behind him all the way. Urban gave his family sideline passes a couple weeks ago. Anyway, Joshua sent Cardale a video message. In it he said, "Be brave, Cardale. If I can beat cancer, you can beat Wisconsin. Go Bucks!"

If that isn't the greatest karma in the world, then I don't know what is.

Urban said this morning that this team is close, and even closer with what they have faced in the past week. Having been in a few lockerrooms, I think that is something that is really under-rated. When a bunch of guys feel like brothers, they play for each other, and they find a way. If you are not in that lockerroom, you don't know whether they are close or not, but I'm going to trust that Urban is not blowing smoke on this.

In 2007 my son was a post player on his HS hoops team. They had some really good talent, and even tho they were winning games, you could tell they weren't together. In early Feb there was an accident that put one of their teammates in a coma and killed his father and grandma. Those guys got close and they rode it to the state final 4. They weren't going there unless they came together, and the catalyst was the accident.

They lost by 1 point in the semis to the eventual state champ, so real life seldom gives us the Hollywood ending. I guess I feel that JT's injury and Kosta's death could bring them closer together, and allow them to play their best game of the year. If they do, Wisconsin doesn't have a chance.

You hit the nail on the head. Nothing..........I mean NOTHING...............wins like esprit de corps. If we don't get the win, I'll be very surprised. :urban2:

The only problem is that this could end up being like the VT game. And when I say that I mean that I actually have a ton of confidence in Cardale, but he hasn't played much. If JT got hurt a few weeks back, and let's say he played vs Minn, Indiana, and Michigan, then I'd be much more confident.
It could end up like the VT game. But as I said, this is a different offensive line than the one that was in front of JT that game. We have someone to run the wildcat who is a threat to throw. Our receivers are playing better. If the only difference between VT and Wisky was the quarterback, I could understand your concerns. There are enough other differences (including ones on the defensive side of the ball) to not make that an apples to apples comparison.

I'm having trouble getting excited about this. I hate CCGs as a concept, unless, as this one does, it pits two teams against each other who didn't play in the regular season. Regardless of what's on the line, after beating Michigan, what more do you want from a regular season until the bowl game? I'm thinking its going to be hard for both teams to get up emotionally for this game

I think the returning players from last year's roster are going to be VERY emotional since they were left with no championship last year and they did not like the way that it felt.

While we know Cardale is going to have to complete a few passes down the field, I'm thinking Herman might use his size. A QB running has the defense outnumbered and ramming that 250 lbs beast at them in the first qtr or so might be the best way to control the clock and keep Mr. Gordon on the sideline while his ankle stiffens up! I'm feeling a bunch of QB draws coming, and when they have to adjust to stop that, we hit em on the edge and over the top. I don't care if Cardale completes 6 passes, but if they get us a few first downs and a couple of scores, we will be in good shape.

I like the way I think. I just hope I'm this positive at halftime tom night.

I wouldn't have minded seeing a B1G CCG after the '93, '95 and '98 seasons.

I see what you are saying here and agree. I will miss the concept of watching the PAC 1O versus the BIG playing in the RoseBowl on New Years day. Those days are long gone.
