2014-2015 B1G Men's Basketball

I watched some WVU basketball this year in addition to their game against Wisconsin in Mexico. Eron Harris is possibly the whiniest college basketball player in the country. High-volume shooter who can get very hot, but he goes completely in the tank mentally when things go bad.

whiniest? he will fit in nicely in east lansing

I'm not sure his numbers support that one--kid has a hell of a shooting percentage (45% from 2-pt, and 42% from 3-pt), which is not at all indicative of some hothead who puts up big numbers but only does so by shooting the ball a ton.

Against Wisconsin, he was 8-19 from the field overall (basically right on his season average), and an eye-popping 7-11 from 3-pt land.

Again, a huge miss for Beilein, who is desperately in need of scorers this upcoming season. Nice get for Izzo.

Sacred Heart should be a real good one:wink: There are also reports that Ohio State will play Miami University at Nationwide since we will be hosting NCAA tournament games there this year we must play a home game there this season and I guess Miami is the team we will be playing.

Where did you see the reports about Miami? I saw someone said they were on the Miami message boards. You're probably right that they will play Miami, I am just curious if any journalists put it out there.

for every big game he had, he came back with 2 more poor showings. People are probably quick to point out a high shooting percentage, but that's an unintelligent way of looking at it. His percentage is skewed and doesn't show the inconsistency. When you get hot and have a game where you shoot 70%, then follow it up with a game where you shoot 20%, the casual observer will think you're balling with a 50% FG percentage.

Just a quick look at all his games you see nights like:

4-17
8-19
4-13
3-6 (in a loss where he had 4 fouls)
3-9
3-11
3-11
5-12
4-14
3-10
5-15
4-14
2-9
1-5
4-10

You mix all those performances in with a few nights where he went off, and some other games where he was average, and you're looking at a model of inconsistency in my book. I'll trust Beilein's judgement when he told him not to bother coming for his visit and ended the recruiting process.

Classic Michigan fan logic--"We didn't want him anyway, and I'll cherry pick his stats in a lame attempt to prove he's not that good." :tibor:

GMAFB. The guy averaged over 17 ppg, and shot 42% from three point land. Beilein swung and whiffed and, what's worse, he lost out to Izzo. So of course you're going to try to argue, quite lamely, that Harris isn't that good.

In between this game and the next one below, he had games of shooting 12-19, 6-11, 7-15, and 7-10--four great performances in a row
8-19 (this is a good shooting night for a guard--42%, and is even better when you consider he went an eye-popping 7-11 from three that night)
4-13
3-6 (in a loss where he had 4 fouls) (this is 50% from the field, and I'm not sure what you're getting at--Stauskas never lost or had 4 fouls in a game? Your parenthetical is silly. I'm getting bored with this, so I'll move on.)
3-9
3-11
3-11
5-12
4-14
3-10
5-15
4-14
2-9
1-5
4-10

I can do the same thing for Stauskas--just a quick look at all his games and you see nights like this:

1-5
0-2 (In a loss, and how do you only take 2 shots in a big game against Duke?)
4-11
4-11
3-7
1-6 (Loss to Indiana. Another disappearing act.)
1-3
4-11
5-18 (!)
4-12
4-14
4-12
5-12

I'll trust Beilein's judgement when he told him not to bother coming for his visit and ended the recruiting process.

This just simply isn't true, according to multiple articles. You really shouldn't be so gullible as to believe everything in the comments sections in Michigan blogs as you and your fellow Michigan fans try to make yourselves feel better about missing out on a guy who shoots 42% from the 3-point land.

it was posted on another board by a season ticket holder who said that he saw the schedule when the athletic department sent out some information regarding season tickets. I have no reason why he would say that if it were not true.

OK, sounds good. I was just curious what your source was. That's now two different reports of Miami being on the schedule so it seems likely to happen.

Yeah, Harris is a really strong get for MSU. Thankfully he is not eligible this upcoming season. But between Harris and the news that they got a CSU guard transfer who averaged 15 ppg last year, Izzo has really restocked his backcourt well with those transfers moving forward although they won't help this season.

Never thought I would see big Tom taking so many transfers. Perhaps he is not as good as a recruiter as some people think

come on Vikings let us play some basketball at Quicken Loans Arena

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Put a 'whoa' for the moment on that Ohio State basketball game in Cleveland against Cleveland State. According to CSU Sports Information Director Greg Murphy, unless something has changed within the last 10 days, the Buckeyes are currently not on CSU's home schedule.
"Certainly it could happen, because we do need maybe two more home games on our non-conference schedule,'' he said, as coaches are on vacation this week prior to the AAU recruiting circuit kicking in after the holidays. "But right now, on the last schedule I have, we have five non-conference home games and at least two more to fill."

News of the OSU-CSU game came out of Columbus, where head coach Thad Matta rarely ventures from home to play non-conference games. But it's no surprise OSU wants to venture north this season, considering the 2015 NCAA Regional Tournament will be played in Quicken Loans Arena, where the Buckeyes would probably like to see this game played.

Re: #B1G announces it led the nation in men's basketball attendance for 38th straight year, eclipsed two-million mark for 22nd straight year. Average attendance increased for 5th straight year (13,389 per game). Nine schools ranked in top 25: UW, OSU, Neb., IL, Iowa, MSU, PU, Mich.

Re: B1G leaders in attendance
School - games - total - average
6. Indiana - 18 - 312,453 - 17,359
7. Wisconsin - 17 - 290,773 - 17,104
8. Ohio St. - 20 -329,481 - 16,474

Ohio State should be leading the B1G, The Schott has a capacity of 18,809 for basketball, etc.
