2014-2015 B1G Men's Basketball

Nothing against you but screw DC and screw Chicago. They should keep the tournament in Indianapolis. Much better for all of the fans.
That's one perspective, and I'm not saying you're wrong. But another perspective is that moving the tourney around is better for fans because it provides proximity to different fan bases in different years.

I'm happy either way.

Even Maryland and Rutgers fans?

I know Indy is a superior location, but I don't mind seeing them mix up the location from time to time at all. Nothing says they can't still have it in Indy most of the time.

Now there are multiple reports that the B1G is having an announcement at 1 PM tomorrow at the Verizon Center in DC regarding future conference tournaments. Clearly the B1G is going to have at least one conference tournament there in the future.

Illinois announces suspension of forward Darius Paul for entire 2014-15 season

After averaging 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game as a freshman at Western Michigan in 2012-13 forward Darius Paul made the decision to transfer to Illinois, where his older brother Brandon enjoyed a solid four-year career. And after sitting out the 2013-14 season per NCAA transfer rules, the younger Paul was expected to contribute for head coach John Groce in the upcoming 2014-15 campaign.

Unfortunately for Paul issues away from the court have resulted in Groce deciding to suspend the 6-foot-8 forward for the entire 2014-15 season, with the school announcing the decision Tuesday afternoon.

“After a thorough review of Darius’ year, which includes multiple transgressions, I am suspending Darius from all team-related activities for the entire 2014-15 season,” Groce said in a statement. “As head coach, my concerns are always what is best for the University of Illinois, what is best for the men’s basketball program, and what is best for our student-athletes as people. I feel this penalty is necessary to help Darius as a person. We will continue to support him through this process.”

Paul was arrested on charges of underage drinking and resisting a police officer on April 22, and according to the Chicago Tribune his next hearing in relation to the matter is on Friday. However while Groce noted “multiple transgressions” in the announcement that Paul has been suspended, no particular incident was cited as the reason for the disciplinary action.

There is an unofficial report that Sacred Heart will play at OSU in 2014-15. I didn't see a better thread to put that in here. http://www.nycbuckets.com/non-conference-schedule-tracker/
Sacred Heart should be a real good one:wink: There are also reports that Ohio State will play Miami University at Nationwide since we will be hosting NCAA tournament games there this year we must play a home game there this season and I guess Miami is the team we will be playing.

Hey guys, nice job locking the one thread that would be perfect to post this in:
http://espn.go.com/ncb/notebook/_/page/top50coaches20/no-20-ohio-state-thad-matta

I think #20 is ridiculously low for Matta. #10 is probably about right but I don't see how he is #20 if success on the court is really what you are evaluating coaches based upon. They supposedly are considering the past season plus how the program is positioned for years to come, and while the past season was a disappointment I don't think there are 10 programs out there that are in better shape moving forward. For a guy who had his program in 4 straight Sweet 16s from 2010-2013, something that no other coach in college basketball did in that timeframe, you'd think that would carry a little more weight considering it is 2014. A poor knee-jerk overreaction to one slightly disappointing season by ESPN. Suffice to say he definitely would've been higher had Craft made his last shot and OSU made the Elite 8 instead of UD, that one loss probably cost him at least 5 or 6 spots in this ranking.

I watched some WVU basketball this year in addition to their game against Wisconsin in Mexico. Eron Harris is possibly the whiniest college basketball player in the country. High-volume shooter who can get very hot, but he goes completely in the tank mentally when things go bad.
