2014-2015 B1G Men's Basketball

I see Lunardi now has 8 B1G teams making the field. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how many can make any sort of substantial run.
Well it's been hard for Wisconsin fans to get a look at teams that good in the league. With 9 of 18 games against teams in the bottom-5 of the league (and 5 of the 8 against the top-8 being at home) it is natural that tough games will be less frequent, and they have yet to play a road game against a team that is higher than 7th in the B1G standings as of today. Wisconsin has/had road games against all of the 7 teams that currently have 10+ losses, with the bare minimum 2 against the other 6 teams with under 10 losses (and they have yet to play either of those road games). No wonder the B1G didn't stick with the same schedule of 2-plays for next season even though they normally would when no new members join the league.

I have no idea how the schedules are made, but it looks like all 5 double plays will be rotated starting next year. I really doubt Wisconsin's success this year factored into that decision much, as you insinuate.

I also think you could argue that, if you are contending for a title, having the other contenders as doubles is better than having several road-only plays, as Wisconsin does this year with Maryland and OSU. For a bubble team, avoiding the top teams as much as possible is the best schedule.

I'm not going to knock him, because he doesn't have much to work with, but I think the only Big Ten coach on the hot seat is Chambers (since it's a new AD that didn't hire him).

But it's a bad job, therefore hiring an A-1 guy is probably not in the cards.

You could argue that it is better for UW to have a home game with OSU instead of Penn State, Northwestern, Minnesota or Nebraska, for the purposes of winning the conference? Only in Madison. UW will win the league, but they were GREATLY aided by a soft conference schedule, and a team like Maryland still has a shot at sneaking up and tying them. UW typically loses a handful of conference games because they, like all teams, struggle to win on the road against tourney teams, but they have had only one such game thus far in B1G play and even it was against a bubble team.

Maybe it was just a coincidence that they switched up the schedules, but clearly they gave UW a schedule that turned out to be softer than it should've been.

Northwestern landed a solid big transfer for next season, grad transfer from VT who is 6'10" and averaged nearly 10 points and over 5 boards a game. The Wildcats have (for them) a pretty good group of players this season, and I believe will lose only Cobb and Sobolewski off this team who are both pretty easily replaceable so they will probably have their most talented team ever next year and should be back in the postseason at least.

I wonder if their grad transfer was better than the transfer (Thompson) that we got from VT. That would be interesting to know.

Down goes Wisconsin. Probably means they are locked into Kentucky's region unless some other [Mark May] happens.

Maryland has a nice squad.
JUST CANT HANG WITH THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!!!11
