2014-2015 B1G Men's Basketball

Oklahoma fouled just now up 3 with 6 seconds left Texas missed the front end of 1 and 1 and Oklahoma wins. Texas hit a 3 at the buzzer too had Oklahoma not fouled it would been OT.

Looking at those numbers from the other sites fouling makes sense only 3 out of 52 times did a team down 3 hit a FT then miss the 2nd and get a basket to send to OT.

I am no math major but teams usually shoot better than 3/52 from 3 point range at the end of the game.

Maybe we should keep a running tab here on how many times this happens and who wins and track it ourselves.

What does this have to do with Big Ten basketball?

Penn State was fined $10K and coach Pat Chambers was admonished publicly by the B1G for ripping the refs following his team's loss to Maryland. To be fair to Chambers, it was an awful call, and usually they don't go against you like that at home, but we all know the B1G refs are nothing if not capable of making a lot of bad calls. It will be interesting to see if more coaches speak out now if they know the school will be fined and they won't have to pay for it themselves.

Masterful job by Matt Painter and Purdue down in Bloomington. Opposite can be said of Creepy Uncle Tom.

Purdue was as well prepared as any team to go to Assembly this year. Dictated play, 17-21 FTs and most importantly- he got the ball to his big guys. Sooo many teams do not utilize their size. Painter's team had a concerted effort to get their guys touches (almost) every possession.

Oklahoma up 3 at Texas Tech just now with 7.7 seconds left fouls...the Texas Tech guy missed the 1st FT so still down 3 missed the 2nd FT on purpose they got the tip back for an offensive rebound right to the 3 point line and he hit a 3 pointer to tie the game. Too bad TT didn't make the 1st FT and that was the game winner.

Crazy play.

Maybe shows there is no 'right' answer. Every situation is different and anything can happen.

My personal opinion is if you can get a foul with a guy under 4-5 seconds, then it is worth it to not let them get the opportunity to shoot a 3. A lot has to go right to get an offensive board and basket on a missed FT with that little time. But I'm not married to the idea either way.

Back to the B1G- Wisconsin won, but perhaps not as handily as most would have thought over the Gophers, 63-53.

Going to be a lot of teams after Wisconsin on the 5 or 6 loss line. Packed in the middle of the standings.
