I remember having to learn a whole new history of a culture I knew nothing about because we focused on European history in high school.

I do recall learning, and keep in mind, I'm not Devin Gardner, a lot of things I had no idea about prior to taking the course, however. Was one of the few areas of study in undergrad that really taught me anything, at Ohio State. Enjoyable experience. How firm thy friendship, O-H-I-O.
