I could do without the signs, but at least Hoke cares about the rivalry. Far cry from where the program was a few years ago.

Usually I don't join in on the Wolverine Mike bashing that follows one of your posts. However in this case I will make an exception because that is perhaps one of the stupidest post ever made on a message board.

Let me ask you this Mike, do you care if you get fired from your job? You may not like your job or you may want a different job. But you will want to leave your job on your terms and not because you were fired.

To have the Michigan FB coaching job is by definition to care about The Game. RR problem was that he was hired by an AD (GBYBMYMSOB) that discounted the fact he would totally change the offense that UM was running AND RR was to stupid to realize that compete year in and year out with OSU and the rest of the Big Ten you would have field a defense that could actually stop another teams offense every once in awhile.

In short, you have been losing recently because RR and Bill Martin were stupid. And the point of my most recent point in this thread is that I am beginning to believe that Hoke is not any smarter.

I think it's e t best. Calling OSU Ohio and other little gimmicks isn't gonna save you on the field. Instead of wasting my time on mental masturbation like an Ohio sign...I would try to figure out what I am gonna do if Gardner goes down...If he does they miss a bowl game.

When Hoke was first hired, he did some things that I thought were brilliant. As much as it irritates some of our Buckeye Brethren (I am not one that it does), calling tOSU only Ohio was one of those moves. It really helped cut us down in size in the eyes of his players and fanbase.

However, this is only the latest offering that Hoke was lucky rather then brilliant with some of these early moves. As 86 points out, it dwells on the negative and as Josh caught Michigan is now planning for failure.

I beginning to think that Hoke may in fact be a good recruiter, but a average motivator and game day coach.

RR treated it like it was just another game, and I was never a fan of that. That's all I'm saying.

I'll reserve judgement on Hokes coaching ability once he's able to get the kids in he wants. The talent is coming, now we wait and see if he can do anything with it.

I'm not so sure Hoke personally is that great of recruiter; however, he has been getting some very good recruits maybe in spite of himself. A couple factors that significantly helps his recruiting efforts:

a. (a head coach is only as good as his assistants) having a great group of assistant coaches (i.e. they are the ones that do most of the "recruiting legwork"). I do believe that their defensive coordinator Greg Mattison is an excellent coach and recruiter, etc.

b. with scUM's "legendary and storied" :tongue2: football program it is a lot easier for a coach to get a recruit to commit there than it is for a coach at school with no "winning football tradition" and much lesser facilities.

To piggyback a bit (pun intended), Hoke is well known for being a very laidback personality type. I think this goes over well with a lot of young players today. What that equates to on the field, we'll see.

I personally like a no B.S. coach who says you come here and we'll work you to death, but we'll get the best out of you one way or another...or you'll be told you're not playing.

66-57. Color me unimpressed with his body of work.

Actually it's been 467 days since Ohio beat Michigan. But I don't know why Hoke cares about basketball.

I wonder if he has one for Appalachian St. since they're playing next season?

Kind of, according to sources close to the situation he got as far as "Appal", threw some kind of fit, and was taken by ambulance to the buffet.

Speaking of the "situation", barring any kind of injury to Gardner could this be Shane's first start?

]I think his recruiting may eventually backfire on him as well. My strong impression is that he attracts elite players that like being told how great they are and not about how they need to work harder than they ever have in their lives to be champions in college.[/B]

I think Hoke is lining up a fabulous run of 2007-esque seasons with amazing talent that consistently underperforms.

The fact that Hoke is a fat idiot blowhard that can't motivate or coach worth a damn certainly won't help.

This is why I think this is a huge year for UM. These may not be Hoke's players, but they will have been in his program long enough to make a statement about their development.

Lane Kiffin has proven what happens when superior talent meets something less in a coaching staff.

I am surprised that seven losses in two seasons has translated into the recruiting success he has had. IMO he needs more success on the field for that to continue.
