ShowMeBuck

You know what? Chicken butt.
Didn't know if there was already a thread started for this, if so please delete or merge.

With Hyde's penalty no longer in question, we can focus on the RB position and how it will go with our guys for the first 3 games. One bright spot to Hyde's suspension is that it certainly helps the perceived log jam at the position. Guys should be working their tales off for PT. An increase in competition is never a bad thing.

Hyde could easily be gone for half the season. Smith will be more than an adequate replacement and just may have an extra gear that Carlos doesn't have. I have no doubts that Smith will more than measure up as the starter. He could certainly get 1,000 yds if he started the entire season.

Dunn has been impressive in his short amount of work and will be a backup to Smith. With Ball weighing in at 225 lbs. he could be the short yardage back that we will need. The dude is pure muscle and reminds me a bit of Clarett on the field, for some reason.

Hall could easily fill in if needed as a starter, backup or third down back.

We are in excellent shape and still have the best backfield in the B1G.

Even at 225, I don't see ball as a short yardage RB, I see dunn in that spot. If ball still has his 4.5 speed, then he can be our homerun threat as well as another receiving threat. Dunn will be great in a battering ram type of player. And smith has the best of the 2. And hall is still there if needed, and another player that can be called on is dontre wilson if need be

Oh how I would love to see Smith blow up early season and cap off a 200+ yard game. That would do wonders for his confidence. I could easily see that and I could just as easily see Dunn and Ball have head turning performances. What a great spot to be in as a team with NC goals. I know one thing, fall camp is going to be off the hook for these guys trying to prove their mettle.
