2013 Preseason and regular polls

If we win I feel the same because it will look like we finally beat someone

I also suspect this could be true.

An Auburn win over Missouri may not help Auburn much, because they already got their boost by beating (now #4) Alabama. However, tOSU beating #10 MSU would be strikingly different than the signature win over #21 Wisconsin.

It all depends on the spooky innards of the computer polls. Someone should be able to project this out.

On the flip side, they could have written their program to value a win over #5 Missouri more highly than a win over #10 Sparty.

The win over Mizzou would give Auburn a bigger boost than a win over Sparty but the question is by how much? And how do the coaches vote in the final poll?

Man this BCS poll shit is getting out of hand. No way in hell should an unbeaten OSU be "passed" by a team that has lost a game because they have one more good win than OSU. It's as if they're trying to make OSU the Boise State of the Midwest. And all the people who are arguing against OSU based on schedule strength are simultaneously and conveniently ignoring the fact that they could use the argument - even more logically - against FSU. Yet FSU is unimpeachable? Ridiculous to the max. I suspect that if you switched OSU's resume and FSU's resume that FSU would still be the undisputed #1 and OSU would still be debated as #2 or #3. This shit is getting old.

I guess if FSU could win in Champaign, Columbus, and AA in the month of November there might be a valid argument.

If Ohio State gets fucked by the human polls, refuse the meaningless BCS invite to whatever other bowl there is. IF you get jobbed by the system, don't play within it.

Don't agree with that. FSU has left no doubt on the field. Their narrowest win was 14 points @ BC. No other team they've played has scored more than 17 points on their D. 1st in the country in scoring D and 2nd in the country in scoring O.

Their SoS isn't all-world either, but 11 of their 12 games were essentially over at halftime.

I said this in an earlier thread

Ohio State turning down a Rose Bowl bid would create a domino effect that would throw the New Years day bowls into disasters, stick it to them if they stick it to you

Fuck 'em all. Seriously. college is about making changes to stodgy old systems right? What could possibly be a bigger agent for change than one of the most storied and the biggest fanbase in the country REFUSING to go to a Bowl game because they were jobbed by the system that is so influenced by mediots that it's a glorified beauty pageant? Hell I can think of no better way for the BCS to go out.

Michigan State's Mark Dantonio said he voted Ohio State number 1 with his Coaches' Poll ballot this week.

I would hope that if OSU can beat MSU that he wouldn't be the only B1G coach to vote OSU #1. I would hope that the B1G coaches went all "SEC like" on their ballots and every single one would vote OSU #1 (and the SEC winner #4 below FSU and Bama).

It would be the biggest jobbing by far the BCS ever allowed.....A 1 loss team ahead of a 0 loss team, wasnt the BCS supposed to prevent stupid shit like this from even being debated?

And that's the thing - when there have been 1 or 2 undefeated Big-6 conference teams, the BCS has always been relatively straightforward.

If Ohio State gets jobbed, that would mean that the human elements of the BCS have become bad actors - meaning they are intentionally manipulating the outcome instead of letting the system work as it should.
