2013 Preseason and regular polls

There may be a silver lining to this. The Ohio State we saw the previous two games may show up in Columbus and AA...

Yeah, I mean, the team played pretty horribly on the road in a wind tunnel, was ravaged by injuries on defense, was admittedly (by coaches and players) unmotivated- and yet they still scored 60 points and won by 25 points.

That a pretty good "wake up" game if I've ever seen one.

The media bias is at an all time high. WTF did we do to just keep sliding. Its beyond me.
The media bias is there, sadly, largely because of how we shit the bed the last couple of times we played in NC games. It will abate somewhat when we get back and win it.

The other side of the coin is how the media loves Thad Matta and Buckeye hoop. I'm still somewhat at a loss how anyone who has watched our games can think we're a top-10 team. And with the win over Marquette, we're likely to rise in the next poll.

I wish somebody, I don't know who, just somebody at a high enough level would make a damn scene about this. Call some mf'ers out. It's time.

I don't care if it looks like whining. Because to me its also about standing up for your damn self while others with no accountability can bully their way around for no damn reason.

Sh*t is seriously out of control.

Baylor is the new flavor of the month...if they win out they will be ahead of us in the human polls. As for a one-loss team jumping us, the only one I would say would do that is Auburn if they win out.

ESPN's coverage of the second half of yesterday's game essentially boiled down to Griese and the other clown announcer talking about how OSU's "struggles" against Illinois would cause them to drop in the polls. Meanwhile, I watched ESPN's coverage of Alabama's game against 4-6 Mississippi State last night, despite the fact that Alabama struggled way more with an equally bad team (the game was 10-7 until late in the 3rd quarter, and only ended up 20-7). No mention of Bama dropping, of course, as a result of that performance. Unreal.

As for the polls, I would bet that Baylor will jump OSU in the coaches' poll if they beat Oklahoma St. next weekend. The only question is whether OSU would jump them back if OSU beats Michigan St. in the Big Ten title game. OSU really needs Michigan St. to win the next two weeks against Northwestern and Minnesota.

The local media does...Bull and Fox got some random douche who had us ranked 8th in the AP poll on and asked him why...he literally had no answer...he just kept repeating "well I don't have things in front of me". This is the level of people who vote in polls...they do random shit that they don't even know why they do it themselves.

The funny thing is, our S.O.S is now stronger than Baylor's with the way the cards fell this week. (According to Sagarin. Would be significantly better considering that ASU/UW failure)

It still absolutely blows my mind that a 60-35 game where we never trailed, nor led by less than 2 scores on the road is considered a poor showing, while a 63-34 game where Baylor trailed by two TD's early, on a "neutral" site is considered enough to boost past us.

I hate to say I'm wrong about us not dropping to #4, but it just makes zero goddamn sense.

Not only that, but yes, Illinois is awful, but Texas Tech has been dropping games like it's going out of style...it's not like they are world beaters.

I have a hard time thinking that Griese, like Desmond Howard, aren't motivated by their anti-OSU bias having gone to Michigan, and are taking advantage of their ability to do something that screws OSU over.
Well, in his defense I am certain it was the narrative that the douches in Bristol told him to run with...but he's still a douche himself for doing it so eagerly

And Max, I don't want to shoot the messenger on this one- I understand that's one of the reasons it's there- but this logic is so absurd that it is mystifying to me.

We're talking about a country and American media that has the general attention span of MAYBE 16 hours, yet shit from 6-7 years and 2 coaches (1 interim) ago that this current team is catching shit for it.

I'm beginning to hate it all. Go Bucks.

I'm convinced that the point-by-point comparison he did of Ohio State versus Florida State right before the half was literally written for him by someone else and he was just reading the points he was making off of a piece of paper.
